I have beed reading the old posts trying to decide on which Gyro to use and I am still undecided.

I have always used a 401 on all my helis but from what I read here it may be a poor choice.

So what is the best Gyro for the 600N?

Also do you guys think mounting the servo on the tail will help the 401/9254 work on this heli. I just have to think there is something weird about the split linkage that the Gyro doesn't like.

Thanks for any comments.

LOL

No it works just fine. If you are going to be doing manuvers with a lot of traveling piros you may want something better but it will work just fine.

Spartan
I am using a Spartan and I can't say enough good things about it. Very easy to setup, very small package and it just works. I had a 611 before the Spartan and that worked great as well but the smaller and lighter package and the performance of the Spartan is very good right now.

If you are looking for something different I do have a suggestion. But make sure you know what it is your looking for and what type of flying your wanting to do.

As far as a your 600N, I have the Solid G/9256 combination on my 600N and it was very easy to setup and one of best I have ever used for consistant piros. Its rock solid no matter what its on.
The more I fly it the better I like it.
Also do you guys think mounting the servo on the tail will help the 401/9254 work on this heli.
My servo is still mounted in the front. I have seen no reason to put it on the boom, I personally prefer it to be in the front on a nitro.

None of the sites have the Spartan in stock. At least not the ones I have looked at. Any idea where I can get one?

Kenny

I don't do any afressive 3D yet. Just a few flips and such.

I just don't want to have problems with tail wag. I see a lot of issues with that and the 401. I also see a few posts with wag on other gyros but more on the 401. I also thought about that governor and that may be the route I go.

I don't know what to say about finding a Spartan in stock. I ordered mine from A Main Hobbies. I put it on backorder and they sent me an email a week or so later. You might be able to find one in stock in the UK maybe.

Things I would suggest on tail wag.

1. Make sure you have no loose linkage on bell cranks, links ect...
2. Make sure your gain is not to high and your servo is in good shape.
3. The tail grips on the 600N are known for having slight tail wag, for this reason I changed to the Quick UK tail grip assembly and completely cleared up the wag. This one is a really good upgrade!
I also thought about that governor and that may be the route I go.
It is possible that your tail wag is more engine related, but you should be able to hear the engine if it is missing and causing the tail to jump. A govenor will help mask some of the problem but it will not take it away. So make sure your engine is tuned first before installing a gov.

Hi Hrosee,

I use 611s in my 600s, but if I had to do it over, I'd go with Spartans. Just pick a couple mail order hobby shops and have them email you when they get back in stock. I wanted a Carbsmart, and had ReadyHeli email me. They emailed me the next day! I had it in just two more days. It won't take long for you to get one.

The thing I like about the Spartans is that they're small and light and hold as well as anything out there. The separate amp of the 611 is susceptible to damage. Can't beat the Spartans really...

Keep 'em flying.

401 will work fine on the 600N.

If you are having tail wag issues, it is probably not the gyro.

611 vs JR7703D
Why would anyone want to spend $350 on a 611 when they can spend $270 and get equal if not better performance from a JR7703D/8900G servo? I have owned the 611, 401 and JR770 and the 770 far surpassed the performance of any Gyro I have ever flown! IMO the JR combined with the incredibly fast 8900G servo is a fantastic Gyro and I will continue to use the JR in any heli I may build. This is only my opinion and for what its worth I encourage those who have not used the JR7703D/8900G servo to give it a try. Its a simple unit to dial in, it can take a crash (believe me) and has always performed flawlessly for me and my heli. This is only my opinion and it works for me....Jim

I'm with Kenny on this one. My vote is for the Solid-G. I'm running it with BLS251's on all my machines and can't say enough good things about it. Easy to program with the G-view and the most consistent piro rates I've experienced. I dumped all my 611's for Solid-G's. I have never tried the Spartan, but I've used the JR7703D and was not very happy with it.

Thanks for all the comments. I am going to try the 401 first since I already have it. I do pretty basic flying at this point so it may work fine. I just don't want to have to deal with tail wag but I think if I set it up properly it may do fine.

If it doesn't work I will probably try the Curtis Gyro just because it will work with the servo I already have.

I'm pretty sure the Spartan will work with the 9254 as well, I just don't have any experience with it. Being able to upgrade the firmware is appealing.
