Hi all,

Been posting in the main forum, didn't know about this one.

Short background; Started my heli days with a Concept back 11 years ago. I was able to learn the basics of flying, hoovering, figure 8's, forward flight, and a little nose in. (Although not always planned) After getting put out replacing the plastic gears, I upgraded to a Shuttle ZXX. What a difference!!! Really enjoyed this heli. The only upgrade was a OS Max SX engine, and only did this because the friend that bought my Concept managed to dent his truck and blow the engine.

Was only able to fly for one more season before a promotion put work ahead of life. Needless to say, that's not always the best thing to do. Things have changed and I'm back to the hobby.

The last week I've been cleaning the "old" monster up.
Replaced fuel lines, cleaned out tanks.
Got the engine turning free.
Replaced batts. in Radio and receiver.

1. They don't make the Shuttle ZXX anymore, can I use Plus 2 parts? I have found places on the net that have ZXX parts, so the question is more for my information.

2. I thought I saw somewhere that someone had converted his to electric, is this possible?

3. Is my radio still a good one (JR X-388S).

4. My gyro is a machinacal, seemed ok back 10 years ago. What's all this stuff about the new HH gyro's?

I really enjoy this forum, it great to find people like me.

the shuttle plus and plus 2 parts fit , you may need to buy more than you need from the zxx to get the broken/worn out part replaced

the 388 is still ok ,fit a new rx switch (as you've said you have new tx and rx batteries), just make sure the internal battery is still holding a charge or you will loose your model settings
if your radio has seen its best the new trend is to use a 2.4ghz set the spectrum dx7 or jr 9303 (i think thats correct) will work well for you and no more interference (i'm still with mhz radio's)

the mechanical gyro will/should still work ok but not as good as the lastest head holding gyro's
with the later gyros like the jr 770t and the fytaba gy401 you can run them in rate mode (like the mechanical one runs in only better) or heading hold and switch from one to the other from the tx (not all hh gyros do this , some have a swicth on the gyro), just run what you have and replace it when its worn out

i've done an electric conversion on one with a thunder tiger 550e motor (just look up my posts in the electric conversion section for the link to the motor mount)
i'm runnig a trex 600e esc with a 6 cell lipo set up and running it with a full metal head at a speed of 1900 rpm , this machine is not short of power and will out perform any glow engined shuttle, the down side is the cost of the batteries and the charge times
