I'm looking at the 12ch range of Tx's and there are 2 offerings. 12Z and 12FG. My interest is for a 2.4Ghz system but is there any significant differences between them that I should know about?

Also is the 12z going to be dropped especially as the 10Z is here.

I cant really see why Futaba are marketing two 12ch Tx's that are in essance competing for the same market share?

So whats going on..???

thanks

See www.futaba-rc.com/radios/feature-compare.html for a feature comparison. The manuals can be downloaded too.

My take is that the largest differences between the 12FG, 12Z, and 14MZ are in the user interface. They all have similar programming features, and the same number of channels (14). The gimbals feel the same to me.

As to why, my guess is that it's the nature of product evolution not to know the future, plus slick marketing.

I don't know what is going on, but I do like my 12Z (I would like it more had I been smart enough to wait and buy it used now rather than new last summer)

Thanks..had a look at the comparision table..There does appear to be very few differencies

I'm to far away to get my hands on one to check it out in personally..so anybody had a play with them side by side for there impressions of the overall feel quality/gimbals etc

One other question..What is logic for switches??

thanks

I haven't heard of a 10Z, but rather a 10C, which is a 1024 resolution system.

I got a fever! The only prescription is MORE 6HV

I had a 12FG and now have a 12Z. I like the programming better on the 12Z, it comes with a nice case and a lithium battery. The 12FG also feels a lot cheaper in your hands and the battery is an odd size so no current options to upgrage the 1700mA NiMH battery. And I already bougth a spare Sony battery for the 12Z on Ebay for $20.

Here's a link to the article Barney mentioned above. Noticed that in the summary at the end of the article, the 14MZ is said to have two extra channels. With the current software, both the 12X and the 12FG actually have all 14 channels.
