How can SEWING cost as much as helis??
I was shocked too! Everytime she goes to Joann Fabrics, I see her receipts and it almost $100 for fabrics and etc..lol

Whats funny, I took her with me to my LHS and I spent $90 on servos (trex 450) and it was a little bag..lol She looked at me like OK, it's ON now! It's shopping time for me!! lol so, all I see was $$$$$ in her eyes and I got scared.

She is the best and very competative!

MMike - I hear that I returned after a 7 year hiatus and didn't even have an x-acto knife when I returned to the hobby last year so, I've spent a few bucks.

I posted earlier about my wife with her slot cars and diecast, but this is her big hobby. She loved competing at car shows with her '70 Baja and has a wall-full of trophies and plaques. While I might do all the work on the car, she picks out and pays for what she wants done with it. The investment in my helis pales on comparison with the Bug.

Since these photos were taken, the 1642 cc single carb motor has been swapped out for an 1835 cc dual carb motor. Most of the build was based on parts out of the Scat catalog. Helis are inexpensive compared with "Little Buddy".

All the stuff in my gallery was also bougth within a 14 month period. To the stuff in the pictures, don't forget the chargers batteries, 6 for the 450, 4 for the 600 E and 5 for the 500. Tools, starter, nitro, etc...I must have been one of the best customers to NDHELI.com last year.

Open question:

Do you think you'll spend anything near that this year?

Not yet. I was planning on flying it on 4S and tried it with 13 tooth pinion head was not fast enough, then tried with 15 tooth still not fast enough, not waiting for 17 tooth pinion. Tried it on 15 tooth with 2 3S 2100 and it was awesome. If 17 tooth does not work I will sell my 4s bats and run it on 6S.

OOhhh my wife can hold her on in the spending department so she knows the old saying, those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

Her only comment about this hobby is she thinks this is the most expensive hobby I've ever had.

That just shows how bad I've had her fooled on my main hobby, bass fishing, I go every other weekend. 20 foot bass boat, 225 Evinrude, about 25 high dollar reels and rods, enough tackle that one room is full of it. 20 gallons of gas in the truck and about 40 gallons in the boat every other weekend, a four wheel drive pickup that's sole purpose is to pull the bass boat. I also have a couple of very high performance outboards I'm constantly modifying and messing with, seeing if I can get a heavy 20' boat running 90. The list can keep going. My bass fishing cost a whole lot more than these heli's and airplanes could ever hope to cost.

I'm probably in the same boat as a lot of the other guys - We can afford it and it puts a smile on my face every time I go flying. Some women are funny that way. When they see you're happy, it makes them happy.
