Is your wife cool with the money you spend on this hobby?

Sometimes or really I find myself having to disguise my purchases on helis, I'd really like to just say, "honey this is what I spent and this is what I am going to spend next week" but I don't. DUH! - end of hobby

I just don't know if this is usual or not.

My wife is fine with the money she thinks that I spend on my hobby, I think if she knew the real amounts she would go wild. But she still knows about 80 to 85% of what I spend...she says as long as we are able to pay the important things (I think helis are important) it's fine. The other thing I'm happy about is she let me go fly almost as often as I want.

Mine is ok with it as long I'm also fine with other expenses. If I make the mistake and argue about the price of something than the word "gay helis" will arrise soon enough....

She doesn't mind as long as she can have the things she wants. Plus it's a lot cheaper than my other hobby...cars.

I found if you stick with it, they give up eventually.

Every time my wife got 'umpy' i would go out and buy something for the sake of it.

She got the hang of it in the end.

I'm 100% honest with my wife on what I buy and how much it was. She's cool with it and goes with me to fly. I've decided to convert my Raptor 30 to a 50 and her response was "so it'll be bigger!?!? Awesome!!". She just likes to see me happy.

My wife went with me to the LHS a couple of weeks ago. My total only came to just over $100.00. Her eyes rolled so far back in her head I'm pretty sure she could see her brain. If she only knew how much money I have thrown at the one helicopter I own, her head would explode.

However her throwing $300.00 for a purse is completely sensible.

A-FRIKIN-MEN!

My GF's ol with it so far, when I tell her how much stuff costs her eyes do roll a bit, but so what!

So far so good with the gf and the hobby, we'll see how long that lasts though.

This hobby is like Kryptonite to chicks!

i have 1 credit card that I use on helis and the only money I can use to pay it off is from my second weekend job($100 bucks for a sat. work) I dont mind cause if I got into the regular money I would never stop..as long as I dont crash over and over again then it usually works out fine. but she doesnt have a clue how much the credit card is racked up to right now. hehe

So far my WIFE! has bought me my original Blade CP, a HoneyBee CP2, a T-Rex 450SE and most recently a T-Rex 450SA. She feels the SA is inexpensive enough that I should use it as a beater heli when attempting to learn new maneuvers. I have two other helis that I bought myself and there were no issues with them.

I'm lucky. my wife's slot car and diecast collection is at least four times the size of mine. And with her collection of over 5000 music CD's and 2000+ DVD's, well, helis just don't look that expensive

As far as I'm concerned you ALWAYS put the one you love the most first in your priorities. "Goodbye honey" it was great knowing you. If you need me for anything I'll be at the field !

Last year was a heavy year of spending on helis and stuff (adding to the fleet).

I managed to get through it with just a little friction... but this year is going to seem like a dream... compared to last year.

Only one more gotta have heli this year (so far ) - the new MSH 500... when it comes out.

She seems to be asking less... I think she just doesn't want to go there

My wife asked me a few years ago how much that Byron GeeBee R2 cost and she never asked how much things cost after that.

I WISH!!!!!!!!!!
Damn...I wish my wife were cool about it...to say she isn't is an understatement....THANK GOD for me though I can easily hide about 15-20K a year for helis that she doesn't know about...that's not enough for me ...trust me..

the only stipulation is that EVERYTHING I buy has to be paid for in cash though...so I can't charge any of it or else she'd know...lol..

otherwise I'd probably be out of control

everytime she sees me walking in the house with new helis she just turns her head and doesn't ask

she knows it's better that way...

My wife doesn't care what I spend my money on, but she's only my wife in the legal way as we've been separated for almost 3yr. However my G/F that would be my wife if I was already divorced and she had her way, isn't too happy w/ what she knows I spend on helis or how much time I spend w/ them instead of her. I don't lie to her about what I spend but I just don't tell her the whole truth. If she ask how much my new Heli cost, I tell her what the heli cost, just not the new servos, , batteries, gyro, carbon blades, and all the little things I buy later to bling it out. I'm sure knows I spend a bit more on all the new things and repair she sees putting on my heli think she'd flip if she knew how much this hobby really cost.

Ive been with my girl for going on 6 or 7 years i cant remember. I started racing RC cars right before I met her. I learned very early that I need to keep the talk of cost to a min.

For the most part I try to fund my hobbies by selling off other hobbies. We bought a house together last March(1 year in our own house wooooot). She complains alot when she sees new camera stuff, or cars or video games or helis. But the bills are always paid, and the money I spent on hobbies never comes out our accounts without her permission first.

She for the most part wishes I would stick to one hobby only, cause she thinks it would be cheaper, soooo wrong. doesnt matter if I had 1 hobby or 100 hobbies, I would still spend as much as I possibly could and still take care of my bills and savings first.

Oh mine is pretty supportive. Its the ideal hobby for her because since I started in this, I always know what I want for my birthdays, christmas, wedding day aniversary, valentine's, etc etc

Till now she bought me:

1 YS91ST
1 Hatori #999
1 OS SZ Hyper
1 Hatori #991
1 Hornet X3D (full setup with electronics)
1 YS50
1 hatori #522
1 OS 50 Hyper
1 Vibe 50 (in the mail right now. Late christmas present)

I really can't complain but somehow she freaked when I told her each of my 9351 servos cost $190 (in europe)
