Plastic grips, on "higher quality" machines are fine. The raptor 90 3d is a great flying heli, i have no problem spinning 1950 rpm on ours. Take a look at a Dino Spadacinni video of him flying the raptor 90 3d, no problem there with plastic grips, or take a peek at the latest vid from Bobby Watts flying the stratus...no problem there either.

Point is the raptor is a great flying machine. You get what you pay for.

This is not my opinion it’s fact, plastic grips as long as they take the loads are better that metal grips. People automatically think metal grips are stronger, they are not necessarily stronger, they are harder (get your engineering terminology correct). But how many people replace them form time to time to avoid work hardening through the repeated flexing under flights loads, which eventually will lead to a brittle blade grip. Plastic will not suffer from so maybe people should think a little before following the crowd and then trying to justify there choice.

If you are dead set on metal grips and like the Raptor, than my recommendation is to buy a new or used SE kit. By the time you add that $150 expense to the price of a 3D kit, you are getting close to the cost of a brand new SE kit anyway.

I'm looking forward to the RJX Xtreem 90. The 50 is an all metal/carbon job..... so the 90 should be fantastic and highly competitive on price.

In my opinion MA has the strongest plastic grips. I'm not cheap just haven't got around to buying metal ones . I fly hard intermediate 3D and never once feared they break . I've seen two N9's break in flight . What a mess..
My other two 90's have metal grips.

Were the Synergy birds crashed and rebuilt before the grips self destructed? There have been reports of hairline cracks developing in the grip after crashes which could lead to failure later.

It's a known problem, I believe Kasama makes grips for it.
I myself don't own one . I have flown a few . It is an awsome bird to fly . Sharp and quick. I was just refering to it's grips.
They were new kits.
