Hi there,

I was testing my new Spartan DS760 on my trex nitro today. Its a amazing Gyro and works really good. But after 2 minutes was the tail uncontrollably. the heli did extreme nose to the left spins as were the gyro off. I don´t know what it can be...
everything at the mechanic is ok. it can be just an electrical problem.
im using a align 5,1V voltage limiter between the servo (s9254) and gyro.
maybe he was not working for a little time?
who know the problem? please help me. thanks.

Andy

Use a voltmeter to check that the output voltage from the gyro to the servo is being lowered by .7V or so by the step-down. They have been known to fail, in which it might pass full voltage to the servo. Not good for the 9254.

The symptoms sound similar to a servo failing, but if its working now, you might also have a mechanical problem. Check out the drive (belt or Torque tube) system carefully, and that the blade grip bolts are tight ( and not binding up), etc.

Don't fly again until you come to a conclusion as to the cause!

Never, ever, ever, ever give up.

Hey guys...

it seems like the receiver-battery was the reason for the crash.
he was already a bit older and not more strong enough for this
hard job in the heli
after installing the new battery, the gyro works absolutely perfect.
great gyro, great fun

Are you using NiMH or NiCads as your receiver battery? You might want to do a little research on the subject, but I seem to remember reading somewhere here that NiMHs can not handle the power draw that digital servos require. I was having similar problems with my HeliMax Kinetic 50, so I replaced the receiver battery with the 2 in 1 lipo system from Align (I also put it in my Trex 600N) & have had good results.

Hi,

the old battery was a NIMH. I also have read that NIMH´s are not so good for receiver battery. special in winter. Now i have a NICD 2400mah and no problems more.

I had NiMH woes when I went flybarless on my Raptor50. Seems it couldn't handle the draw from 3 gyros Had to charge after each flight.
