I have a Hobbico accu cycle charger and have always charged my batteries at home with the ac adapter, however I am now planning on doing some traveling this summer and would have to charge packs at the field off of the car battery.
I know you just connect up the 12v leads, but I am wondering how many packs you can charge before you run down car battery? or should I buy a seperate battery? I would be charging tx and rx packs for my nitro and gasoline helis.

I've always charged off my vehicle battery and never had a problem. Charged batteries from 3s lipos to 7-cell nimh's and never come close to running the battery dead. At the field, either my accu-cycle elite or triton is usually charging something, sometimes both of them.

you should be alright using that Accucyle on your car battery. I would suggest however that you watch how much you drain that car battery of yours, as it is meant primarily for starting your car and not powering high draw electronics. If you plan on doing alot of charging at the field I would suggest getting a marine deep cycle battery that can be drainds down and recharged again without any harmful effects
