I am new at this and have been trying to fly an axe cp for a couple of months. I just purchased a trex 450 se rtf version off the internet and the radio that it came with is a futaba T6EXHP. The radio does not appear to have flight modes like my friends RD8000 does. I know this is probably a cheap radio that they put in these kits but I don't have any more money to get a different radio right now. So I have to make this one work for a while. Is there any ways around flight modes or is it just one mode only?

I know how the idle up function works. I use it on my sim to do 3d. I guess this is the manual type controller and you can't preset any other setup modes.

FM to PCM
If I’m not mistaken, the T6EXHP transmitter has only two modes and runs of FM band. Unfortunately, you have only Normal, and Idle up 1. Personally I wouldn’t run a heli on FM cause the possibilities of an RF hit is so much higher. Heli are notorious for self induced RF signals do to moving metal parts and electronic placement. You want to avoid glitches in this hobby. However, it’s a good radio. If and when you can, upgrade your FM receiver for a PCM counterpart. This will make you a happier camper. You can still use the same crystal that your running now… pending on what you get.
