I used a dx6 sucessfully for several months in a 600E until the dx7 came out Dx6i is a "full range' system....I'd be suspicious of the servos, the jst connectors, and if this was an early version of the 2n1, the wires in and out of the controller module and the regulator must be "potted" with shoe goo...

the dx6 is not a full range radio. the dx6i is i guess but the dx7 is the radio they say to use for a 600N. i would be aware of the issues of the 6 channel radios for nitro use.

guys,theres nothing wrong with the dx-6i...its a dx-7 with 1 less channel pretty much....I would start by checking all your connections.
