I've had baffles come loose in exhausts, it's always a possibility

If you've checked everything else, it's likely the pipe. Some of the earlier MP5's did have baffle problems IIRC. If it is the pipe, it should be no problem sending it in to CYE for replacement.

Was there any evidence of the clutch rubbing the clutch bell?

Are you running a metal fan? If so, check to make sure it's not hitting the fan shroud.

Yep, me and a mate had the same thing, it was the 3Dx Fan hitting the fan shroud. We just loosened the shrouds and at idle moved it around so the fan could wear the shroud a bit. We then re-centered the shroud, tightened it up and no issues since.
