I received this from a good friend and thought it's too important to not let everyone read

I found out about this last night, so I Googled it today & found out
a lot of information (I suggest that each of you do the same...its
shocking), there is a Bill that's in Congress called "The Global
Poverty Act", this bill was written by Senator Obama & if it gets
enacted, it will cost the American taxpayer $845 Billion & plus more
funds every year...now, this Act has lots to do with the United
Nations & it has clauses added in, like the ban of all small hand guns
& there are a few others but the jest of this Act is that the United
Nations will be taking over the laws of our country (think not, if
they can ban all small hand guns ,our ownership of these guns will be
illegal...so if that fly's, what's next that we're going to have to
live with by the United Nations)...

The poverty that we have in this country will not be part of the aid
that this bill will furnish, this bill covers only other countries,
not ours. With this bill costing so much money, where do you
think that the money is going to come from to pay for it? Mr. Obama is
wanting to let the tax breaks of 2002 or 2003 that the Bush Admin. put
into effect expire, so your taxes will be going back up again & of
course this is only one thing that's going to help pay for it & you
can bet that there will be other increases in our taxes. I understand
that there are quite a few other clauses added to this bill that is
going to affect all Americans, not only in their pocket books but our
rights that are guaranteed in our Constitution,

"Like the right to bare arms" Another thing, why isn't the news
media carrying this information before the American people, so that
all of us can see what the (Congressmen) are trying to sneak by the American people..... I hope that I have stirred each of you & your interest enough to pass this around to all the people in your address books, I know I'm very interested & I have sent it out to all the people in my address book.....scream out loud....we're being had again.....

The government cannot give you anything without first taking it from someone else.

The Global Poverty Act passed through the senate on Valentines day. What a sweet gift to the U.N.

S. 2433: Global Poverty Act of 2007

Looks like it started here?
H.R. 3605 [109th]: Global Poverty Act of 2005

Passed in the house on September 25, 2007
H.R. 1302: Global Poverty Act of 2007

No doubt, with a Democrat controlled congress, McCain will be our next president. Oh well, lesser of two evils.

The dems will do everything possible to bankrupt and destroy the US, "just to make it fair"

Starting with their undermining of the Iraq war moments after they authorized it.

That's laughable. Our current gang of corrupt halfwitted crooked leaders has already bankrupted us -- or haven't you noticed?

It's as true today as it was when Karl 'Turdblossom' Rove stole the first Dubya and The Dick election back in 2000 -- This Bush/Cheney/Rove administration will go down in history as the worst disaster -- financial and otherwise -- that this country has ever endured, bar none.

We and our children will be paying the price for their foolish leadership and corrupt activities for decades, and we may never restore the reputation we used to have amongst the other 217 countries who share this planet with us.

Ok I took SteveH's advice and did do a google search on stuff. This is what I found:

The Global Poverty Act refers to the UN Millenium Declaration, which has the so-called ban of all small hand guns and how our ownership of these guns will be illegal.

The UN Millenium Declaration states:
To take concerted action to end illicit traffic in small arms and light weapons especially by making arms transfers more transparent and supporting regional dsarmament measures, taking account of all the recommendations of the forthcoming United Nations Conference on Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons.
http://findarticles.com/p/articles/..._23/ai_78803067

According to the article:

Small arms and light weapons, in our understanding, are the strictly military arms, automatic rifles, machine guns, shoulder-fired missile and rocket systems, and light mortars that are contributing to continued violence and suffering in regions of conflict around the world. We separate these military arms from firearms such as hunting rifles and pistols, which are commonly owned and used by citizens in many countries. As U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft has said, "Just as the First and Fourth Amendments secure individual rights of speech and security respectively, the Second Amendment protects an individual right to keep and bear arms."

So its not the glock you have at home they are so trying to take away from you, unless you are a small arms dealer selling to bad people.

I remember when the republicans with their bull$hit scare tactics were bitching about Al Gore and if he got into office gas was going to go up to $2.50 a gallon to force us to reduce dependency on foreign oil and think green...experts are saying $4.00 a gallon by summertime.
Leave it to the Dem's to elect MCCain to president and make
the republicans look good
I was watching a show on McCain and it went to say that he was 4th from the bottom in his class. He was jealous that the guy at the bottom got to shake the presidents hand. He thought if he only screwed up a bit more...Personally I want my next president to be able to put a cohesive sentence together and not want to underachieve.

Flame suit on...

Wrong! As GimbalFan would say "Back to school for you!"
Principles that Obama supports on gun issues

*Ban the sale or transfer of all forms of semi-automatic weapons.
* Increase state restrictions on the purchase and possession of firearms.
* Require manufacturers to provide child-safety locks with firearms.

Unfortunately underachieving is the American way these days....it's built into our culture...the "what's in it for ME" mentality. This is why the asian countries dance circles around us in so many regards.

For better or worse, John McCain will not be America's next president.

Wrong again, Stet. Have you ever been right -- even once? Doesn't look like it from where we're sitting. And your continued support of the most corrupt administration this country has ever seen sheds an untrustworthy light on you as well -- so don't bother offering a bet on November's outcome -- your type can't be trusted to pay up.

While I agree with the sentiment, the statement is idiotic and makes you sound like Alec Baldwin...he said the same thing when Bush made it to office - twice - and he never followed through.

The reality is that it's only another 4 years of another president, for better or worse. For the most part, it's not likely to change a whole lot in the scope of your life, it's just 4 more years of fodder for the talk shows. All the melodramatic talk is silly.
