Maybe it is just me,but when looking at the adds in the classified section to see an add and check on it only to go down 5 or 6 posts to see that it is sold.If they have the time to edit the post and say it has been sold,GREAT,why dont they put sold in the header or subject.Kind of annoying, but then it might be only annoying me.

TRUST ME...this has been brought up soooo many times it is horrendous. You are preaching to the choir on this.

Why can't people just CLOSE THE TOPIC or MARK IT SOLD?

I think it should be removed from the topic all together. that would give the unsold merchandise a better veiwing. less waisted time scanning all the posts.

I agree but the sold stuff hsould be moved to a separate forum instead of being completely removed. That way we can check prices and what not.

Sold
I agree that it is good forum manners to mark an item as sold, preferrably in the topic title.

I do not close classified topics until all parties are satisfied and all of the feedback sent. Some buyers don't realize that to get feedback from the seller they also need to post something in the classified topic.

I'll send MR a suggestion to offer a "filter" to allow you to hide classified topics that contain the word "Sold" in the title.

I agree it would be nice to keep the listings some where... so we have them for reference as to the going price for things.

What is getting me annoyed more than this... is when people remove their asking price. I have noticed this more and more lately. They are marking items as sold... but are also removing their asking price when doing it.

That makes it real hard to determine what to offer or ask on something others have for sale, or items I want to sell.

I don't get the reasoning behind it. If you do, I am truly looking to try to understand it... let me know.

Anyways - PLEASE leave your asking price in your ads!

Most of the items sold were just being posted there without minding after they got the money. It's better to close it if the item is sold.

Mark Ryder really does not have to do anything,it is just as simple as when someone sells an item mark it as SOLD in the topic, but maybe it is not as easy as I seem to think.

I personally remove the price after I sell something (haven't sold much here, but on other forums). I feel that after it's sold, the buyer may not want to advertise what he/she paid for it, as well as myself. Honestly, as far as making offers go, I feel that if the offer is insulting to the original asking price of the item, then don't bother offering. Buyers should be doing their homework when buying used anyway and should know what something is worth.

Maybe it be easier if Mark put a tab that would allow the topic starter just to click it and it would mark the item as sold. Maybe then it would get marked as sold more often. Chuck

Maybe it would help if a requester pops up automatically say every week when people log in on RR, asking whether item X has been sold before they can continue.
That would probably nag people enough to click the "yes sold" after a number of times. If they never log in, well move their ads to the bottom of the list or make invisible after half a year automatically (adjustable by ad viewers)?
