We actually had a warm day over the weekend. I let them out for a bit of air. Many have asked for a pic of the snow birds since I was whining about missing the smell of hot dog's from my gassers.

The winter weather bordom blues resulted in yet another "rapter". I now have a 3rd 98% complete - not shown and at least 4lb's of parts in a box for the cat.

Do what I did a couple of years ago
We got a huge snow storm, 2 feet of snow. I put my snowblower in the back of my pickup truck (ramps come on real handy), drove it down to the field and blew out a pitt area and 3 flight stations with a 12x12 takeoff/landing pad. All in less than an hour's worth of snowblower work!

No more snow in your way this way and you'll get to fly your beloved ones. The other good news is if for some reason they go "down" in deep snow its very possible to escape damage and fly again right away once you figure out the cause.

I actually flew my Spectra G on Saturday. It did warm up over the weekend. I had to avoid big puddles of water and mud but it was fun.

Sounds Like a Great Idea !
Yes I think I'll take my snow blower's to the flying field !

Going to take mine, her's, and the "IT" #3 :

Stap them all togeather , then connect them with a 30 ' chain to the back of my Dodge truck.

Drag them thru the city, cross the bridge, into Nebraska, down a highway, down a county road, across a set of rail road tracks, down a another county road, round a hard right corner at about 40 mph and into the pit's !

Since I should't stick the remains down the out house " the handels" { some one may sit on them ) I'll just lean them up against the door's !

Have been thinking of trying a heavey fiber door mat as a pad, but wondering if theirs a risk of blowing it up into the rotors. ??

What if you cut the handle off a couple of bad mitten rackets and attached them to the skids as snow shoes? Maybe you could get away with just one.

What could be more fun?

Snow bird shoes.
I use pool tube toy thingys on my skids. ....

I doubled them up for the 90....1 set works perfect on the 50.

I used UHU foam POR glue from foamy planks to double up the 90 ones...works great and it can take the fuel.

You slit them like slippers and slip them on. You can zip tie them if you like, afterwards if you like. but, after a few pairs...(they will wear out inside), I got good at cutting the slits and they are snug right away.

I actually used them for orientation purpose,...and found that they help the heli float on snow!!!!!!

Go steal your kids pool toys......

I tried Heli-max floats...forget it...these are better. 1 tube can get you many sets. I used green on left coming at you, and red/orange on the right coming at you. You can't believe how it helps with orientation...

The venison we are eating in the photo helps get your mind right also........LOL.
I can fly my birds much farther away, I even put yellow tube between the boom supports on the 50....it really helped with my "sight picture" while learning, and I left it on.

Just getting out hand !
-7 last nite and more of the white devil !

I'm thinking of lining them up across the floor and see if I can get all blades twirling at once " kinda like the spinning plate trick on a stick " - and make gasser noises.

Wonder if I can get em in my golf club hard cases and just start driving south until I can take my shoes off and stand on something warm.

Enuff of the white devil !!! I want bug's and stuff !

I'm there!
Almost. I'm in Wesley Chapel Florida, at the ZepherHills funfly. Bunch of top name FAI pilots here, Gordie Meade, Dwight Shilling, and a couple of other guys I didn't catch their name. Windy as hell here today, but I flew nevertheless and logged 7 flights with the gassers. The FAI guys were practicing 100mph speed runs with maneuvers, looks like a heli on steroids!

With all the wind today, I'm pretty sure the Jets over Florida were grounded...

15?
Where I was at it was a good 25 to 35mph. At some points I had to put one foot forward to prevent myself from tipping over forwards!

Guess we were on the line with the storm as some of the guys there were showing me the weather map on their cell phone. Said that there was a chance of tornadoes as the front was coming in and all this hot weather wind was blowing its way blocking it from coming down.

We were in the windy spot for sure!
