I just finished with my second T-Rex 450se when I hover anytime I give rudder input I get tail wag for a couple of seconds then the tail stabilizes. I have a gy401 gyro with the s9650 tail servo. My radio is a JR 10x and I have played with the gain all the way through the range at 0% is where I get the least wag. What am I missing in this set up?
My other T-Rex has no problems with wag the gain is set at about 60%.

get the ball on the servo(make sure your not using a z-bend) as close to the output spline as you can get it, this will allow you to turn the limit on the gyro up, should fix the problem, also make sure everything is all lubed up

Great input when I get home tonight I will check these out. Not sure on delay, using balls on servo with the round servo wheel, belt tension seems good and no binding.

V2 wag fix. aprox 3/16 fuel tube, pushes the slider up to the shaft to rid slop that causes wag. No snubber pulley. Balance weights added.
top and bottom spreader bars removed for the quick change rear end.

Drilled and tapped, installed with blue loctite. Try this, remove your main blades, disconnect the tail linkage at the servo and spool up, now try to push the rod by hand, tail blades on or off just secure the heli. Then get back to me when you find out how much tork it takes to move the pushrod!
Notice the different colors on the fin between pics, weights on and off. Yes it has been stuffed a few times!

diablo makes a tail with this mod its called "chinese tail weight mod" i feel it helps push and pull the servo by adding weight to the outside and inside of the blade grips

tomrex was right try pushing that linkage with the tail spinning with and without the weights

i think it makes a hell of a difference

weight mod on my blade 400 i havent do this yet on my rex but will do as soon as my pockets can afford it.....

G-Force makes weighted tail grips for the 600, that are very similar in design to TomRexs set up, check them out http://www.rchover.com/inc/sdetail/116063

Forgot to comment on the post, something is off on your set up, at 0 gain there should be no tail wag from your gyro because it has been disabled, 0 gain is for the machanical set up of your tail. TomRex has given the best choices so far, you have some mechanical slop some place, servo output shaft may be getting sloppy. I was running my 401 at 70-72 on Spektrum and that was the upper edge, I would have to adjust a little for air density, hummid air gives the mains a better bite and causes a slight drift when your running the edge.

Thats good to here, you may have been just taking off too quickly, its a good practice to get the heli light on the skids before taking off, when your a little over anxious the gyro is pitching quickly in both directions with alot of force, causing flex in the tail rod and giving a little wag.

Bigdog he was saying he got no wag at 0%
tamuco what did you change i wanna know what you fixed..
where you binding up? was there slop?do you have enuff gain now?
how'd you fix it? i think you said at 0% there was no wag n your right there shouldnt be. but there is no H.H now if your using a JR 10x then i think you would need to be atleast above 50% to be in H.H mode can you tell me how your setup in the tx are now?

I just went back through and reset the gyro up nothing was binding and I set gain in the transmitter at 60% worked perfectly although before I redid the setup the gain was at 0% and it was working near perfect and was holding great.

Curious, how close do you have your ESC to the gyro. I have found that the SMM sensors Futaba uses really dont like being close to the fields generated by ESC's. I have found that they will cause the tail to wag and twitch.

If you havent already done so put some distance between your ESC and your gyro...IE the ESC shouldnt be next to the gyro...I usualy have the ESC in the front and the gyro in the back.

in that case Eco8gator you can get an esc with a ferite ring on it to minumize noise to the receiver.my trex ahs the esc right under the gyro, my blade 400 has the esc in the front away from the gyro. both birds have no known issues

Dont think I was clear. Take an Align ESC(I know both the 75a and 30a versions have this effect) and put it next to a Futaba gyro or even a Logictech 6100(same sensor) during start up(when you hear the cherps) and I bet you money that the ESC will cause the tail servo to twitch. When your running at partial throttle you will notice that the tail will twitch if the ESC is too close. BTW I had ferrite rings on both ESC...they dont fix that much noise

I have had this issue with all birds that use Align ESC of all sizes...solution keep the gyro away from the ESC...it even says this in the manual.

And to be perfectly clear this effect only happens with gyros that use the sensor that Futaba uses...other ones seem to handle this noise better.
