I'm running the stock motor and ESC..... Got my MT second hand from a friend... I'm using a TP 2100 pack.. My issue is, I got her hovering yesterday... Seemed like shortly after I get her in the air, I could hear the motor rpms drop a bit. Didn't drop the headspeed enough to really affect the tail, but def. dropped... I figured maybe the battery wasn't fully charged, as I had spent alot of time setting it up.... I charged the battery, and same thing... I didn't fly n e more after that, as I'm worried that at some point the HS will drop to an uncontrollable low... COuld this be the ESC? I've heard the Ace isn't that great, but I know my buddy never had problems w/ it... Or is it my battery? Seems to check out ok every way I could test it, but I dunno....

The esc may be in gov mode. Check with your friend or just reset the esc. I had that happened to mine when the esc was set on gov mode. After I set the esc without gov, the drop in speed went away. I run all my MTs with stock motor and esc without any issue. I did put axi coolers on all the motors though.

Well, I reset the esc to heli w/ no gov. and I'm still getting the prob. In idle up, the motor basically pulses...

The ESC pulses the motor when the input voltage drops below the programmed level. In flight, if the pack may not be able to keep up with the current draw. The Stock MT motor pulls a lot of current, and the stock wood MT blades are not efficient, so team that up, and the TP2100 pack (15C prolite- right?) is dropping voltage.

You need to either upgrade to a higher-C rating pack, go to a smaller pinion, upgrade the blades (Align Pro Wood blades are a vast improvement, decent carbon fiber blades even better), and /or upgrade the motor.

I flew my MT with the stock motor,13T pinion, carbon blades, and 5 minutes of 3D flying was enough for most packs. The 15C packs would not handle it and overheated- had to fly 20C or better.

Check the programming set the voltage cut-off to the lowest available level. Fly by timing your flights, start at 4 1/2 or 5 minutes and measure how many milliamp-hours the pack takes back- keep it to 80% of pack capacity at most.

So basically, you could fly the setup you have by lowering the cutoff voltage programming in the ESC, but it'll be too much for the lipo you have except for short flights.

Never, ever, ever, ever give up.

Wow... Thank you for that explanation... I was thinking something along those lines, but don't have enought exp. to really see what's going on... I do have CF blades on it... I believe I'm running a 13T pinion... It's not a prolite pack.. I believe it's the "extreme" series (20 or 25c, don't have it in front of me right now).. When I reprogrammed the ESC, I set it so it has the greatest protection for my battery (prob. a part of the problem, I'll turn it down and see).. Thank you again..

Well, charged it up and tried re-setting the ESC voltage options and it seems to have worked... I was out flying for about 5 min. b4 I got too cold and didn't catch it pulsing at all... Thank you again...
