Five flights today with the Raptor clutch and all is well. I changed nothing else but the clutch.

No vibes, no broken clutch shoes, and I finally got to wring it out some. I like the way this heli flies!

I'll keep my Knight, thanks.

Which is worse, ignorance or apathy? I don't know and I don't care!

Bingo.
He'd have to sell it, he wouldn't know how to handle it

I had a clutch break in 2 pieces Yesterday & my wife threw the 2 pieces away on accident, so now I have to buy another one instead of sending it in for replacement.

and one more thing "DON'T BE AFRAID!"

A runaway engine will do that to almost ANY helicopter clutch. This is the reason why people will screaam to keep away from the heli after a wreck and the engine simply wind up full Thr and no load. it can trow pieces many feet away with lots of energy.

I have a NIP clutch that I purchased just before this post started. Is there any way to tell if its suspect other than installing it and waiting for the noise

I found the clutch started to bind a bit first then go. Occasionally I've had no warning and landed it with the heli rattling away. It sounds like the engine has fallen to bits!

eyeflyhelis:

That happened to me when I crashed a 600N too. If it's revving even at half throttle it will burn through the bell in no time and seperate, hence what happened to you. Nothing to do with the clutch issue with the knight 3D.

Currently I'm running on a newer clutch and it seems OK.
