Seriouly...the 611 only for sport flying only.

The 611 is an amazing gyro and I dont see how using one will keep someone from winning an event like the Masters or XFC. It holds like a vice, its pretty decent in piro consistancy...to hear the 611 is though to not be considered top of the line is crazy talk in my book.

I'll second that!!! The 611 is more gyro than ANYONE can outfly. The BS about it not having consistent piro rate is hyperbole that keeps getting repeated by those who don't and have never owned a 611. Has anyone seen Nick Maxwell's You-tube video fyling in his garage? Guess what - he's using a lowly Futaba 401. Doesn't seem to bother him too much.

The biggest problem with the 611 is the large size of its amplifier. It's just a bit too heavy for a 450 class helis. The Solid G has the same problem. However, neither is too heavy/bulky for a 90 size heli.

Most of the upper end gyros today are all excellent performers. I personally like the Logictech 6100 a lot for the money. But I like my Spartan 760, JR770, Solid G and GY611 too. But, the real question is, if I had to buy another gyro today for any heli no matter what size, what would it be? Answer, the Spartan 760 without a doubt.
