went flying today
me and stefan went flying today in the wind.and we flew the raptor 90 3d and trex 600n(sport) and the lads were flying there raptor 50's and also an blitz avro
we really enjoyed the raptor and trex and ....arceye was nailing his raptor 50 round big bens and kaos.stefan was doing big bens and piro pic tocks etc.then we chatted.and we all said how well they ALL FLY but all required upgrades to improve the models for our style of flying.so what im getting at is the (enjoyment) we all had with these different brands of helicopters
none are better than the other. just different in many ways but still all cool
regards craig simmons
ps arcreye was using a tt53 redline and i must say its stunning.we must get one asap

IF words touch you in such a way , it must not be the first time you heard them. So then you take them personal as insults. Did not know your so sensitive.

Greetings:

Align is a very good company! I think however, that their market focus is not the same as what the Raptor line of helis is. You have SUV's made by all the major car companies would you rather buy a Ford or a Range Rover?

I am getting into F3C, right now I have the Raptor 90SE and I am practicing all of my F3C with it. When I go into the actual competition I will use a higher grade of heli. Now some people will argue that I could use the Raptor 90SE and just Bling it out and then use it in competition and I should be fine. I think it would be better to use a higher grade of heli that comes ready for competition right out of the box. I will not have to spend as much money to "Bling" it for the competitions.

Nice topic!!

I call BS on that. On another forum a guy has a really good sig line. "If you you think you might get hit in the nose for saying something to a persons face, maybe you should not type it." I think those are good words to live by.

Heck, you STARTED a post to slam someone.

http://www.runryder.com/t415076p1/?p=3320891#RR

*Maybe* you are just not funny..For example, I don't see the humor in:
I'm so tired of this nonsense about Align. You all sound like a bunch of yentta. Enough.
This one is not funny at all either:
Glad to hear your- less than 2 cents
This one seems like nothing BUT a personal attack on someone:
3DFREAK It's not just your call name thats GREEN
In fact, just about everything you posted here is dripping with vile contempt for other posters.

You are entitled to an opinion....Heck, thats why this place exists and everyone's opinion is valid. But, being nasty is uncalled for in polite society.

If you say so.
Your a heck of an anal_ist yourself.
I believe we are way off topic. See ya around.
I knew of Ron Hill that would come through Palm Beach and fly. Maybe you even know Tommy from my post ? He is way out of line. It's not just me that thinks so.
I'm sure your not the same one.?? Although the personality fits to a "T". I have met him (Ron) before. He does not impress me.. If you are him Jeff said hello

Ron... you got my vote! Well stated. I like your style!!

Gator strikes me as mean. A friend of mine has a bumper sticker on his car... that reads - "mean people suck"

Anyways - It took me a while to read through all of these posts. Having a T600n myself... and never a Raptor... I was actually looking at it from the Raptor pilot's eyes... to see what insight I could find and learn from them.

Seems if a guy wants a smooth tracking, less pitchy heli... the Raptor is getting allot of votes. If 3D faster cyclic responsiveness is the name of the game... the 600 it is.

I have heard the Hirobo guys tell me that the Evo is the smoothest and nicest flying 50 heli out there.

I bought my 600n off of a very experianced pilot, that was going back to his Evo.

How's that... for a curve ball?
Comments?

Trust me, if intended to make a threat...There would be no missing it. I try at all times to act like an adult and refrain from making lame threats or childish insults and that little saying is a good reference and reminder; It helps to keep things civil and polite. I mentioned it to you in the hope that you might think about it and consider it before your next post.

Can you imagine how great this place would be if people could openly express their opinions without someone spitting hatred, poison intent, and childish insults at them?

For me, Align has become the more accessible heli brand, which, it has taken over from Raptor.
When i first got into helis about 4 years ago, the raptor was all the rage, awsome flying, cheap and bags of fun.
Since Align has come on the scene with the 600s, prices here in AUS have dropped across all model brands. This is in a small part due to the relative strength of the AUS dollar, but more so due to lower market share that each of the existing brands are left with. Selling less product?,,,, lower the price a little. Align come into the market with a fairly cheap model base, but a sound product.(If they were as bad as some would have ya believe, how come they have sold so many?) To me it seems the other brands are still playing "catchup" as it were. But catchup, i hope they will.
Now in terms of parts availability, here in AUS, Align are second to none. Every single model store sells parts/kits for Align. Bout half carry TT, Hirobo, etc.
From a modellers perpective, thats pure gold! 5 places within 30 ks, that ya can get a bag of mainshafts from!!
And that is another thing, how come it took a minow in the moddeling game to come up with the whole concept of 2/3 of the same parts, in the same bag, for an extra couple of bucks? Its not like we crash only once! Due to the ease of availability, and relatively low cost, i find i have far more Align parts instock(at home!) than all the other brands combined! So with the combination of cheap, easy to get parts, in good reliable helis, the whole crashing thing becomes much less of an issue, allowing the pilot to " let it rip", and really enjoy the model.

Thats my take on it anyway

On the forums its seems that align has taken over, however in terms of heli owners I know, I know more people with TT helis.
I haven't flown Align helis, I have TT helis I like them a lot.
Both brands have problems.
I bought TT as the local hobby shop sells them and parts are easier for me to get.

thinking of it
i went to a helicopter club a couple of years ago.when people was saying that the raptor 30 was the machine to have and nothing else.i mentioned a hawk 30 and they laughed at me.so i went back to the shop(models shop i have) and returned to the field armed with the century hawk/sc 3d engine and rubbish servos.heading hold gyro tho.wood blades...after completing tumbling circuits at head height and flips at groung level etc they all walked over to look at the spec of the model.they didnt believe the sc stickers on the canopy and looked for an os,then i was happy to take the canopy off and show them the installation..i turned round and said to the learners stick with what you have untill you can out fly it..because you may want a 50 for 3d(50's wasnt popular at the time).
so my thought are enjoy your helicopter and stop falling out guys we are all doing the same thing
cheers craig simmons

simpson, you're dead right, but you know how it is with most heli nuts and moreover many from over the pond, if it's not the latest gear then it gets rubbished without consideration.

It does not have to be the latest and greatest heli as long as you can fly it and you like it all that matters not what everyone else has.Fly it until you grow out of it.

I've been reading this post and came to one conclusion, just the fact that this debate took so long and in fact got the collars hot at one stage just shows how good the old outdated raptors really are. I mean if the raptor was stacked against the vibe 50 no-one would even argue the point that the vibe is a better machine. Somehow I get the idea the align guys are trying to convince themselves they have a better heli?
I agree with the new kid on the block syndrome, just wait and see now what will happen with the vibe 50?
I have 6 heli's of different makes some upgraded others std, I enjoy them all tremendously, its all in the setup for your way of flying.

You can't put the Vibe 50 in the same bag as the 600N or the Raptor.

1. It will never out sell (or come close) to the 600N or Raptor. As long as people are picky on extra $2 for some parts, the vibe will always loose.

2. In quality terms I would put the Vibe slightly above the Evo. Comparing it to the Raptor or 600N is just mean.

3. The Vibe 50 is a better machine in terms of construction, design and flying characteristics but the bottom line is that people want cheap parts and a above average flying heli. The funny part is that if you really look into it, the 600N isn't as cheap as it looks but hey, what counts its that you get two mainshafts instead of one right?

A good friend of mine resumed all this in one simple sentence:

"JR is making huge efforts selling the Vibe at $599 while Align is getting rich selling the 600N for the same $599"

When I can get Vibe parts at my local Dairy at a competitive price then I'll consider it. Until then, the 600N stays in my stable. They're pushing $hit uphill IMO. There are a LOT of nice 50's out there. There is a reason the 600N is DESTROYING them all in terms of sales. It's not all hype - simply can't be. 100's of pilots can't be wrong.

Fly what you like - I do.

Flamesuit - ON.

You're just proving what I said:
bottom line is that people want cheap parts and a above average flying heli.
If you're expecting JR to start selling parts at walmart, you better sit down. I don't know if you had a vibe in your hands but after you have one, you will understand what I mean. There is no way JR can compete with align at the same level unless they bring the quality way down. I remember a certain manufacturer telling me that the bearing they were using in their swashplate cost them more (at factory price) than align was selling their complete swashplate to the public. you get what you pay for.

I certainly appreaciate the quality and I hope JR will never skip on that to satify the "herd". I always liked being the black sheep at my field
