There is no one answer to the "which one is best". I have 4 Raptors and now 3 Panteras (plus others). I flew two Raptors and my new Pantera 61 over the weekend and loved every flight. I do think the Panteras fly a little heavy compared to the Raptors but holy heck are they built strong. If I lose a Raptor I won't be replacing it if that says anything.
In your case I think it comes down to cost and parts availability since you like to shop locally. Hamilton Hobbies carries the Pantera and has a full selection of Pantera parts. I was just there Saturday. A Pantera kit these days is about $300 while a Raptor will run close to $400. You won't lose either way but I feel the durability is higher with the Pantera.
