Update -- Update

Fort Smith FlightMaster's has agreed to allow us use of the field and the field will be open for flying in Ft. Smith Friday and Saturday. The club website there and directions are:

It is a straight shot down the interstate for 45 minutes due south. flying field is very easy to loate. Full Mapquest directions are on their website.

Guys, With the massive rain we had last night and this morning our flying field is by the White River and we have over 4 feet of water covering the field right now. Our port-apotties have washed away and our picinic benches can not even be seen it is so deep. We will have to schedule for a time in the fall.

We will be having a Fun fly April 12, 2008. No landing fee, just open flying. Anyone is welcome to come on Friday and fly as NorthWest Arkansas has tons of nice shopping and places to eat. Plenty of hotels as well. We might have an auto contest if people are interested.

Directions to the field are there.

Hamburgers/hotdogs/drinks and all the usual will be sold.

Yes, it will depend on how wet it has been. PM or e-mail me about a week before and i can let you know for sure, but yes there is room. There are no hook-ups. This is a one day fun fly, but you are more than welcome to come over on Friday and fly as well and stay overnight in your RV on site.

Anyone who wants to bring a RV is more than welcome to do so. We do not have hook ups, but RV's are welcome.

We will have to share the field with the other club members on Thursday and Friday, but the field is never really crowded during the week. Anyone who wants to come early is more than welcome.

If you need hook up's.......here is a link to the closet RV park. Only about 4 miles from the field. 5 minute drive. If you don't need hook up's you are welcome at the field.

It is nice that there is no landing fee but what is open flying. A heli friend ask me what does open flying mean and I thought I knew.

But I am wondering if this event is just for helicopters or does this open flying mean something else like, whatever flies you can bring. Just wondering?
