if I had to wait till there was no wind I would never fly ...I fly both my helis, mini/micro almost daily.....you just have to fly in idle up to control ballooning and be careful....give yourself more room(altitude, and objects)....it makes your flying on calm days much smoother

The smaller the heli, the biggest effect you will notice on wind. A beginner will have a hell of a time flying in wind but as you progress, you won't notice it as much. You tend to compensate without even noticing it...

But the effect are definitively there... all your manoever will be deformed by the wind. Even the smallest circuit will have a side much higher if you don't compensate enough.

When wind is ridiculously too strong, I love to make High speed pass (downwind) and HUGE stall turn (up wind). I have limited flight possibility in a week... so when I'm at the field for couple of hours, I sometime have to deal with the wind I know I won't come for a couple of days before I get a new "fix" to my addiction

I love flying in slight wind, you get fantastic lift and I enjoy killing the power, dropping the heli' like a stone then turning into the wind on powering up again. People watching are sure it's the end of my heli! I fly Century's GL450 SE.

I like to spend everyday as though it were my last; in bed drifting in and out of consciousness!
