Im so excited!! I had my first flights this weekend. I actually hovered and started working with some forward/backwads flight. I think ive put about a half gallon through the bird so far. Anyhow ive got some questions.

1. What is the best way to transition from a hover into flying a traffic pattern?
2. What are some things I need to give a good "once over" for on my heli after the first few flights, sort of a basic post flight/pre flight? As im sure some thigns might have loosened up ie: engine mount bolts.
3. I noticed that my gy401 flashes rapidly after I turn it on, then it is a slow steady flash. I know when my buddy was setting it all up for me, it was a constant on-light and now its flashing- what does that mean?
4. I am having to hold quite a bit of right tail rotor. I tried to trim it to the right but I still have to hold quite a bit of right stick. How can I fix that?
5. What is the best way to clean the heli up? It has quite a bit of oil on the frame. Do you just soak it down with a spray bottle of alchohol?
6. Any other tips/advice for a newb that had his first hover this weekend.

Thanks everyone!

when low and inverted down is up /// up is expensive

flashing light on 401 with no rudder input means you turned on the gyro in rate mode. make sure your transmitter is in heading hold mode before you turn on the gyro.

you had to hold right rudder because the gyro was in rate mode. you can try adjusting the length of the tail push rod, or just fly in heading hold mode. whatever you choose just make sure the tail pitch slider doesnt bind when you give full rudder. you adjust this with the limit pot on the gyro.

for cleaning oil off your bird you can use simple green or any other mild detergent.

after practicing hovering tail in, you will want to practice hovering side on and nose in before you do any fff or figure eights etc.

gratz on the maiden

peace.

1. Get very comfortable hovering in all directions, side on and nose in. Then get used to looking at the heli at altitude, then just do it, you will be surprised how easy it is.

2. Check everything is tight, check all links, check pipe, check gyro sensor is secure, just have a good look.

3. That is normal

4. Set up mechanically first(length of linkage) so that you have no yaw in rate mode, just keep adjusting untill its good

5. Squirt some meths on a rag and wipe blades, frame etc.

6. Burn some fuel

Oh Yeah, It FLYS
