i have got a twitchy tail on my blade 400. it has been a problem on and off for the entire time i have had it. i have got my gain on the gyro at 50% i guess its 50 i have it straight up n down. and on the remote at 80% the belt is not that tight, i have t-rexn rutter blades on but thats not it. And if i pop it up real quick tail goes left(if the tail was facing me already) my pitch is 10/10. i guess it just feels like the gyro works the wont work. sometimes she flys with no cyclic other times im chasing my self all over the sticks. i know that im not a great flyer but i cant figure out and its bothering me. i wanna belive that a need a new gyro and tail servo
thats 200 in parts.

when I still had the original gyro and servo on B400, mine would always wag back and forth when in a hover but get better in flight. When I switched out servo I found out that the ball link and ball were very tight on the servo, in fact it was the only tight ball link on the heli. I was lucky in that I already had several extras 401`s laying around just had to buy a servo. Mine too would swing the tail when I punched the collective but my tail would swing right w/ torque not against it.

I never could get the gyro to work really well... I had constant wag, and in windy conditions the heli would yaw badly during gusts and stay at the new heading (which was sometimes 30-45 degrees from its previous heading). No amount of gain settings seem to help.

I finally abandoned it and got a JR DS3400G servo for the tail and the Futaba GY401 gyro.

Totally different heli now. Stays locked in, even in wind! It's been raining almost non-stop for 3 weeks, and it got to be so bad I'd rush out to fly between rain storms... There was still a lot of wind, but darnit, I wanted to fly! I'm still a noob, so all I really do is hover and forward/backward flight. When taking it up high, the heli got buffeted like crazy by the wind. You could hear it beating up on the blades and could see the heli getting tossed around. But it stayed pointing in the same direction the whole time.

That pretty much sold me!

Being a noob, I can use all the help I can get keeping the tail where it's supposed to be! That will hopefully prevent me losing orientation and crashing.

While there may be a way to dial in the tail on the stock equipment, I never found out.

I had tail wag also, and I dropped the gain on the tx from 80 to 65 and it went away. I am now running it at 75 and it's just on the edge. 70 is about perfect gain for mine. Happy Flyin!

whirlydude,

Is that gain setting with the linkage in stock setup or did you move it in a hole on the servo horn?

I can't get my gain above 68% without getting wag with stock setup.
Haven't tried moving the linkage yet.

Wolfpackin,
That was stock setup, but now I drilled a new hole as close to the center as possible for full travel. I also didn't mention that I am using the 401 and not the stock gyro. Sorry about that.
