Hi

Well had the first flights today

Very smooth, very solid and very positive on the controls.

I've set it up as per the 'stable/FAI' settings. Everything was set as per the manual. No drama, no fuss. Running in the YS, so just hovering and slow circuits and 8's at the moment. Looking forward to getting the YS run in and having a ball

Did have one minor issue. Lost one of the canopy screws, but managed to find it. So I am going to loctite these in position then remove them, so there is a layer of dried loctite, to make them more positive and less prone to coming undone during flight.

Had an engine cut on the 2nd flight, but no major drama. After checking everything I can only assume it fouled the plug and died. Had another 3 flights after that without any issues. Getting a good 12 to 14 minutes flight times.

I'm using 30gm paddles, 24gm flybar weights set 1/2 way on the flybar and SAB 0205's 685mm blades.

Regards,

Sean

Crikey, the one I've been flying is only getting 8 minutes, but is still rich! Have not had a conopy screw fall out and have only been tightening them by hand, not with an Allen key, but worth watching out for. Given it back to the owner to fly now

Very nice Bond007

That was exactly how I found it, I was very surprised on the first initial flight.

I still hate that bit, miss it already

Ryan.

Man, that is a gorgeous helicopter, I love the way they made the servo output shaft stabilizers.

Hi Bond,
You need to go easy on the YS engines, flying it at max 60% of his capacity at the moment and its tears like hell... jaja... cant wait to open it to 100%...

The canopy screws I recomend to fix with a hex driver in order that they are tied.. this also reduces the minimum vibration transmitted through the canopy.

Why do you use 685mm blades, is there a specific reason for that?

Last question, which Glowplug do you use?

Regards,
Dave

Hi Dave

Hear what your saying re the YS, thanx.
You can feel it's a beast of a motor though

OS No 8 plug used.

Gone for 685's to give a good balance between hovering and aerobatic performance. The SAB 0205's are a fully symmetrical blade and weigh in at 200gms. From the advice I've been given these blades are an excellent allrounder, which is what I wanted. The Avro is my competition machine for FAI type flying. I'm not doing 3D with it. I can only do limited 3D at the moment due to a lack of ability on my part

I've got a Trex600N for learning 3D

Sean

You gotta bear in mind I'm only stooging around with it. I'm sure that flight time will drop when the engines run in properly and I'm throwing it around some more

I bet you were sorry to give it back

Loved your Puma at Charmouth Awsome and beatufilly flown. You showed it to it's full potential.

See you at Charmouth in April ?

Sean

Hi Sean
Yeah, was sorry to give it back but I will be flying it again soon I'm sure.
Thanks for your comments on the Puma, it is a credit to the OF rotor head and Baumann fuselage really. I will be at Charmouth in April, hopefully the Puma will be there with it's bigger motor and new paint scheme.

Had another great weekends flying

Getting more used to it and last flight went into Idle up for the first time.... It really motors when you want it too

Going to have to order lots of fuel though

Can't beleive how positive this machine is. It goes EXACTLYwhere you put it

My Trex feels like a toy in comparison
