Hi all, I`ve got a head shake on my shuttle that I`m having trouble tracking down and wondered if someone out there has had a similar problem or can give me some pointers. I have a quick uk head and tail on her and I`m running nhp carbon blades and v paddles with sab tail blades. I balanced the head on a dubro tru spin and the rotors on a koll rotor pro. I flew her today and got one tank done before the skids started to blur. Landed and checked her over and all seemed okay so i tried again, she was shaking so badly i had to land pronto. I`ve changed all the bearings except the one way and it`s driving me nuts.. to the point that I might just stick to flying my t-rex se. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated.

try checking that your main shaft isn't bent, also the feathering spindle, also lubricate the feathering spindle with a silicone based lubricant oil or grease also make sure your blades are not too tight in the grips or one blade is a lot tighter than the other
re balance your head
I don't know if yours is a shuttle z or plus sieres , or a shuttle sceadu but both models fly well once set up correctly

it`s a shuttle plus but heavily modded. I`ve put a new feathering spindle in it and also main spindle. The only bits I haven`t changed are the dampeners and the one way and gear. As I mentioned she was flying really well and then just started going nuts but I`ll go over everything you`ve suggested and see how it goes.

Does the modified had has thrust bearings on the feathering shaft?
If so, see that they are installed correctly, and that they move smoothly.

Well, I completely stripped the heli and I`m glad to say I found a couple of things wrong that may have caused the wobble. I took out the main shaft and found it was fractionally out of true. This p****ed me off a bit as it was a brand new main shaft. I don`t think it was the sole cause of the vibration as it only appeared near the end of the first tank. When I removed the clutch I found the bearing that supports it was loose, also the main shaft bearings and I think this caused the wobble. I`m fairly new to the world of remote heli`s but I`m realising how meticulous you need to be to set one up properly. Now, I know I locktited the screws that hold the bearings but what I didn`t do was degrease the screws before I applied the locktite!! The screws were so easy to unscrew that I`m sure the locktite didn`t take. Anyway since I`ve rectified this the heli now files so smooth and I`m well happy so I thought I`d post this just in case someone out there has a similar problem and gets as disillusioned as I did because sometimes it`s the simplist of things that gives us the biggest headache.
Happy flying.

just make sure you check all your bolts on your pre/post flight checks
after the thrid flight today the head damper bolts on my freya 90 came loose (if they had fallen out the complete head would have come off) so it pays to check before every flight
