Yes, with Seagull. No pics, though. It seemed that the gull didn't consider my gasser a threat at all. I don't think it would have gone well for either in the event of a collision.

Was flying my trex and saw a something fly by really quick. Thought it was someone was flying a glider and got to close. Well it scared the you-know-what out of me. I landed and a red tail hawk was abot 20 yards away on the ground just shreiking like he was trying to tell us something. Never seen anything like it. Did talk with a friend and he hunts alot. He was telling me that some hunters use a decoy called a modo duck that the wings twirl almost like a rc heli. It simulates a goose or duck starting to land. The hawks are sometimes drawn to that. Only explanation we could figure out.

I've had a surprising number of close calls. Some seemd accidental, some appeared to be on purpose. Moreso when flying the little TRex than with the big nitro helis, though. In fact, the instances when the close calls seemed to be on purpose were with the TRex.

That is a great picture.
Back at my old flying field years ago, we had a large group of crows that would harg out in a tree. Many times they would wait till a heli or plane was flying by and they would all take off at once. I never saw anyone hit one, but it really did not seem possible that you would make it through without an impact. Flying through about 100 crows and not hitting one is scary, it happened to me about 10 times!

I had it happen once while I was flying a company's RMAX with about 400K worth of avionics and cameras on it. A group of about 30 small birds flew right for it and a few go so close that you could see there flight path altered by the downforce from the main blades. Not much I could do but just pray that none of them ran into it. Talk about pucker factor!!!

I have had mockingbirds try to attach my 450. The usually attach from under the heli, but it is a scary sight.

When I was learning to fly my trex 450, I was at an open field with tall grasses. All of a sudden a bunch of blackbirds flew up flying in all directions and my heli was in the middle of this flock. At that moment I had to learn some evasive manuevers quick.

Good thing you made it out ok

Having my heli: Cool, Having a working heli: Awesome, Having a day to fly: PRICELESS!

Out of curiosity
HOW did you get this picture? Someone on the field just happened to be taking a casual shot of your heli when the seagull turned up? I mean for sure you weren't chasing him for seconds and he was only there for a split second before ducking away...

Lucked out for sure!
