That would not have happened if he landed on a treadmill like any other normal pilot

hey
LOL....what was the pilot thinking?

any pilots on here that have experience landing on water care to provide some insight as to why this happened?

I've heard landing on water is difficult but it looked like he was coming in too fast...

cool nontheless

Thanks

insight
It was an amphibious floatplane and the wheels were down. Gear down on a water landing = d'oh, with a side order of deet de-deee.

The Citation pilot landing downwind was just 'plane' stupid. Double d'oh's and two side orders of deet de-deee for him.

I actually read about that citation landing when I was looking through a list of airfields that are being shut down for various reasons. I can't remember the name of that field, but it is the birthplace of the Civil Air Patrol. If I remember correctly, that Citation pilot just didn't pay any attention to the runway length and overshot because he didn't pay attention to the runway length... oops.

He also landed downwind. May've been the NYC area, Long Island possibly.

What a cliff hanger Why did the video stop short of a conclusion? I wanted to see if the engine blew.

deet de-deee

It's child-speak. I haven't used it in 43 years, I forget what it exactly means.

What exactly does deet de-deee mean?
A popular comic named Carlos Mencia has brought this phrase into more common usage. It does indeed mean 'DUH!' -- but to a higher degree.
