I had a chance to visit the NW RC Expo in Monroe,Wa today.

http://www.nwmodelhobbyexpo.com/index.html

Lots of great RC stuff not specifically deticated to helis. There were cars, boats, planes, battling robots.

There was a flight demo area where the heli guys and plane guys took turns with demo flights. In the heli camp there were 3 new Trex 500. The first demo was a Trex 450, with a very skilled pilot. Some times 3d looks like erratic moves that looks like its random stick movements. The pilot was very smooth and it appeared that he meant to do EVERYTHING his heli ended up doing. The 500 guys were also quite good making the most of an extreemly small space. It made me nervous to watch and I was glad there was a fence.

There were a couple CoCommaches there that made me proud to be an Esky pilot. I had been playing with the Lama4 last night and its pretty tame compared to the HBK2. Some how following in the same airspace as the 3d pilots the seemed to some amount of celebrity with the little coax. Of course it helps that the crowd around me was ohh-ing and ahhing even for the coax's.

The hit of the show was the battleing bots. I'm not really into those, but I of the people in our party knew one of the bot battlers, so it was interesting to hear the personal back story.

Lots of vendors where was well as a large swap meet section. DeeTee Enterprises had one of the largest and nicest booths. Lots of Align stuff of course and a 600 class electric Hughs 500 with a 5 blade head. It was nice to see one of these up close.

There were a lot of CoCommachees there but no other Esky products that I noticed.

Are you specifically talking about someone from the Northwest????

Jeff

To hover is divine, the alternative is rather PLANE.

I wasn't as tempted as you might think. There wasn't a huge amount of heli stuff. Lots planes, cars boats, and hydros. I did pick a few connectors that are somewhat hard to find. The biggest heli booth was Dee Tee and they are a big Align shop.

I got back from great planes E-fest champaign il yesterday I talked the Castle Creations guy out of a 25amp esc. No kings there the E-Sky guy was a no-show it was a TREX bonanza a friend did find a lamaV4 $90 out the door no tax or shipping. I assume the TREX festw was greatly do to the fact horizon is just down the street. But to my surprise the B400 was almost a no-show 1 out of hundreds of helis and that was from a newbie all he did with it was tail in hover. Not that Im saying thats a bad thing. What Im saying is no 3D pilots even had one as a backup.
