I am setting up the gyro on my DX-7 using the GEAR switch to turn on or off heading hold. When I go into travel adjust, and try to set the values for the GEAR switch, it doesn't change to the other side when I flip the GEAR switch? Any ideas, is some other setting inhibiting me from setting both sides of the GEAR switch? Thanks, Bill

Go to your system menu -- the one that you get when you hold down the Select and Access buttons when you turn on the switch. Scroll through the menus until you get to the INPUT SELECT menu. Most likely the GEAR setting is INHibited. Fix that, you'll be able to adjust both halves of the settings.

I just checked that out on my DX7.

I think I figured it out, the Gear setting was set to Gyro, when I changed it to GEAR, it works now....I thought it needed to be set to GYRO to control heading hold on or off from the GEAR switch? Bill

You adjust the rudder end points not the gear end points
when you assign the gear switch for the gyro all you are doing is assigning that channel for the gyro gain.

If you want to use a switch for switching between rate and heading mode goto gyro sens menu put the cursor where it says auto then push the button that says increase and it assign the rudder switch on your right of the TX.

assign your throttle hold to the elevator switch instead of rudder switch

To adjust the gain you adjust the gear channel, to adjust the piro rate you adjust the rudder channel.
