So I've been dreaming about connecting my PC to my 53" bigscreen and flying Phoenix on it for a couple weeks now... I finally broke down and bought a DVI-HMDI cable and was all stoked about it. Pull the TV out to hook it up and WTF... my TV doesn't have HMDI ports! I could have put my paycheck on the fact that I checked a while back and there were HMDI ports back there... I stared in disbelief for about 5 minutes before pushing my TV back with my head down.

So... back to square one. My TV is HD 1080i and uses component (RGB) connections for it. My video card came with a SVideo-component adapter so all I need to do is buy some component video cables... How do you guys think the picture is going to come out? Of course it won't be as good as I dreamed since I'm going to use S-video rather than DVI... but hopefully it will look decent.

I searched DVI-component adapters... but I would need a converter and they were around $150... no thanks! Looks like I better tell the wife I want to upgrade my PC monitor from a 19" Widescreen to a 32" Flatscreen!!! WOO HOO that would be nice!

It will still look as good. Component is capable of delivering a signal of up to 1080p. The main difference between them is the way the signal is delivered. DVI/HDMI is digital and Component is analog. You will be hard pressed to see the differences unless you studied them side by side.

I run on my 60" Sony SXRD via DVI to HDMI. I have not done component but have hooked up satelite both HDMI and Component. I could not tell you which one was which if they were switched without my knowledge.
