The solar community consensus is that we might be in store for a serious cooling:

Kerry blames global warming for the tornado swarm this week, but conveniently misses the fact that hurricane activity is down big time.

First I thought the ice caps were going to melt, now I am really worried that there will be a big ice cap over all of Los Angeles. OMG !!!!

it would be nice if everyone cut to the chase and did some valid unbiased research just to set things straight.

one guy says yes, the other says no. both are specialists, both have a good history or credit, both do valid research, but only one could be right....but which one?

I usually side with the one that's got the least "agenda" behind it, they tend to be the more realistic one.

In this case? Personally I believe the article and that we're in for a cool down, why? Cuz Al Gore says the opposite. Period. That guy's a tool.

Kerry blames global warming for the tornado swarm this week,
I live in Sumner County where much of the damage was done. I just shook my head when I heard that. Funny how they didnt mention is up until just a couple days before that happened we had temps ranging from lows in the teens to highs in the mid 30s. We get a shot of warm air up from the Gulf, which isnt unusual here, and this happens.

Local radio host was talking about NWS records back to the turn of the century, when there were tornadoes here in Nov and Jan. So its not unprecedented, long before SUVs were around. And if CO2 is so bad for the environment, I wish some of these idiots would quit running their mouth and contributing to the problem..

I have to chime in here, the govt. pays scientist's big money to publish these findings, although this has been happening for decades, (warming/cooling) but it's bad enough we are already being taxed to death, now they want to impose a carbon tax!! geez!! we are already paying a gas tax for the fuel we need for our vehicles as it is, and if there were such a concern why don't they ban all these gas guzzeling vehicles if they are a part of the equation?
and all these green clean air activists, why are they driving fancy gas guzzelers and flying everywhere?
look at the space launches, you don't see them bitching about that do you? it's a scam always has been and if you fall for it,,,oh well

Smile! people will wonder what you're up to!!

Yeah, that makes tons of sense. The government just loves to hand out bad news. They love to tell us how the economy is going to suffer. That's exactly how they get re-elected. Even the grand-poobah of nay-sayers, G.W. Bush, has admitted anthropogenic global warming is real and needs attention. But you presumably believe that every country on earth is paying its scientists to come up with false research.
we are already paying a gas tax for the fuel we need for our vehicles
I've got bad news for you - gas prices are going to go up, and in a big way. We Americans bitch a lot about gas prices, but we pay a fraction of what they pay in most other countries. We're about to see the other side of the supply curve as we pass the Hubbert Peak. Then I assure you prices will soar. You can bitch about how the government isn't providing the cheap gas that you're divinely entitled too, but it won't change a thing. Not really much need to argue about it. I can just wait while we watch it happen.
la la la la I can't hear you! la la la la la
Yup - that should make all these "imaginary" problems go away.

I think running out of oil is the biggest problem humanity faces today. Global warming aside, we have to develop alternative fuel sources. I don't really care what the motivation for that development is. it has to be done PERIOD!
