Hi all got a nasty tail wag w/ fresh battery. After a while wag goes away. Why? running hitec 65mg, DX-7, 25% gain in hh mode & 30% in rate. Could it be that flimsy pitch control rod vibrating? Am I missing something? Anyone have lots of slop in their tail grips?

there are so many reasons you could have tail wag, definately the rod could have something to do with it, a carbon tube will be stiffer and flex less, you might want to start with that, also make sure you have no binding in your tail components.

Re gyro
Hey, using gy 401. turned gain down low trying to get wag out. Should run 50/50 but wags like hell at that rate. Not sure what to do. LHS was out of the fubtaba 3154. They said hitec hs65mb will work fine. They are almost always right. Never steered me wrong but this little bird is so sensitive who knows. ROB

I am running around 45% in HH mode on my DX7 with the gy401 and futaba 3153, tail holds nicely.

First, get rid of the metal tail rod and get a carbon tube. Second, Make sure your tail isn't binding anywhere. Make sure the rod is not catching on anything during its travel. If you do that and balanced your blades and don't have a bad vibration somewhere, you should be able to turn up the gain to at least 40% or higher.

Just for kicks try a higher % in HH. I have mine at 62% on DX7, any higher and I get a wag. Lower and it's not as locked in.

you can get the carbon tube from tower hobbies or bphobbies or some place like that, you are looking for tube, not rod. ray stacy can tell you the size, I'm not sure off hand as I made mine with a piece of carbon rod I had lying around.
