Been checking on the temp of the engine and was not sure where the back plate was. Back plate would seem to be the back of the engine resting against the fuel tank, Opposite the head no? and the bottom plate facing the ground. Could not be right because i can not get my fingers in between the tank and the engine. Never heard or seen anything thus far describing where the back plate is.

Back plate
Thats the plate that you take off the engine to look into the back or bottom of your engine.

Hey,50 feet For i have never taken off the plate to look at the back or bottom im going with micheal88997, that its the one facing the ground, easy and no futher information needed, Thanks, could not figure out why the call it the back plate. Back plate to what? Seems like the bottom plate. I guess if you were lying on your back it would seem right.

Its called the backplate because technically the front of the engine is the crankshaft. So the back is obviously the back plate. The top of the engine is the head. Heli engines are basically the same design as and airplane or car engine. We just mount ours vertical instead of horizontal. Make sense?
