How much runout at the clutch hub is too much? I've read about trying to get inside of .002 but judging from all the people that just screw them on or bolt them down and dont check, I have to believe it'd be easy to have .008 or more runout.

I am not sure there is a maximum. Keep in mind the less run out the longer your bearings will last the smoother the engine will run. Less fuel foaming, better engine runs because of this. As a shaft turns it can put a lot of stress on the support bearings causing premature failure. I check all mine and have yet to exceed .001 on my clutch, fan, or starter shaft. This is over 6 helicopters, 3 Hirobo, 2 Raptor, 1 Hawk Pro.
