Over on RCGroups, someone posted that their new AR6100 had a version 1.6 sticker on it. Anyone know what the deal is with this? Anyone know if Horizon will update the older v1.2 for free if the receiver is still in warranty?

Yes I know, the last one should be directed at Horizon support.

Not yet. Wanted to make sure that they really are shipping receivers with a different firmware. Only seen one post so far. If a couple more people are found with a new firmware, then I'll use up some of Horizon's time to find out what the deal is.

It's the petty little crap that bogs them down, I don't need to add to the noise until I know that there is something that is confirmed as different.

Sure would be nice if Spektrum would put the firmware versions on their website.

Would be better if they would sell a cable so we could update firmware.

A couple of my Rxes are installed in such a way to make them VERY hard to remove to be updated.

I agree, would be nice to have a cable and do it ourselves, but I'm willing to bet that they won't be that forward thinking!

Maybe when they receive a couple thousand Rxes at once for upgrade, they will consider it.

I have heard rumor that the connection is actually pretty easy, so it would just be a point of offering the adapter and software to the end users. Not sure if it requires a hardware programmer or just a serial port (maybe USB), but it sure would be nice to be able to do these things ourselves!!! (hint, hint) Castle seems to have embraced this, even XPS built a device to do this, and I bet Futaba wises that they included this with the FASST transmitters.

And yes I would pay around $50 for the adapter if that is what is holding this back (as long as it could interface to ALL the receivers). Would be nice if you could set things like failsafe positions too, would give the AR6100 a little more functionality.

One more person has said that they received a new AR6100 with a v1.6 sticker, so I guess now it is time to bug Horizon.

Sure would be nice if there was something on the Spektrum web page!

Sure would be nice if we could update this ourselves, even if it required buying a programming device, as long as the price of that device is not priced too high for what it does.

Not v1.6 as yet but I have just sent my receivers back to horizon uk for the quick connect firmware update. It will be interesting to find out what sticker comes back on the receiver when the upgrade has been done.

Good luck

Most of the reports from the USA are coming back that no sticker has been applied after the firmware update. But they are coming back with the Quick Connect feature including the flashing light that signifies there has been a brown out of the power supply. I consider the flashing light to be a good diagnostic feature to help fix you set up when things go wrong.

I just bought a brand new DX7 and AR6100. It came with a little sticker on the end V1.6 and it's own bind plug.

So what is new with this update? and how do you tell what version it already is? I don't have mine to hand to look if it says anywhere.

Some of us have sent ours in to Horizon Hobby UK,
They come back with 'QC' written in black pen on the casing of the main & satelite receivers.

How you tell for a new receiver in the modelshop I don't know!

So you don't have the V1.6 sticker attached in the UK?

Wait, maybe I miss understood you. An AR6100 only has the receiver and no satellite receiver.

I think I am confusing the issue here, Sorry.

I sent all my receivers in to be reprogrammed for the quick connect update. This was a mixture of AR7000, AR6200 & AR6100's. Just checking them it was only the AR7000 & AR6200's that had 'QC' written on them. My AR6100 had no visible mark on it at all to show the update. Still has only the V1.2 sticker.

Thinking about it I was told that receivers with satelites need to have both the main & satelites updated so a mark to show the update status is necessary. I guess for the AR6100 this isn't such a problem.

Tim.
