head speed
Go to the castle creations web site and check in support. On the bottom of the page is a section on documents. Download the manual.
I doubt that you're in gov. mode. If you want to run in gov. mode check the Helifreak site and you can check the set up of the cc in gov mode. They all set up the same. I run in the regular throttle mode. Head speed with your set up should be about 2800rpm at 100% in idle up. If is still not enough buy the new XL motor with the thirteen tooth pinion and it should give you about 3200rpm.

If your throttle curves are linaer like 30% across board then your in governor mode! I bought heli used like you with same cc35 esc, my linear curve was 30% I now run 50% in normal and 60% in idle1. I got different motor though.

Ps I see you said you setup throttle curves! So if they were linear before you bought, then again gov. If not linear then non-gov!

I would suggest getting the USB cable for the CC35esc. It is worth the $20 or $25. Then you can see exactly how your esc is setup. Or download manual from CC to go through setup and listen to beeps. As far as motor advice I dont have any cause I've never used that motor. You didnt say how the throttle curves were set before you changed them. Reason Im leaning toward the CC35 is it has a very good govenor if used correctly!

You need to down load the manual. Your transmitter and the esc need to be set up together. In the manual it tells you what you need to do so the esc and the transmitter see the low and high ends of your throttle throw in your transmitter. You can set up your esc without the link. As you get better you can get the link and set up gov. mode if you want. If you have questions after you see the manual then you can ask more questions about a certain mode within the setup. If you put in the align esc you still need to set up the esc with the motor and transmitter. So either way you need to read the manual and do the setup.

Try changing your throttle curves to. 0,55,85,95,100. That way when you get to zero pitch the motor wil be well up in rpm. also move the throttle end point at full up to 110% to see if the esc will give you more power.

Check your pitch settings.
You may have everything else set up right except your pitch. Check with a pitch guage to see if you have around + 11-12% top end pitch. You may be bogging cause you have more than that for top pitch. You may have to readjust the settings. I run all linear -11to +11 or
-12to +12 in all my flight modes. 0 degrees pitch at middle throttle/pitch stick of course in all modes as well.
