Hi,

I am planning to upgrade to X9303 from DX7, it will cost me $300 if i sell the DX7 and get a X9303.

My question to guys who have used both the radios, is it worth spending $300 to upgrade to X9303? I currently fly TRex 450V2 and TRex 500. I dont do any hard 3D just loops, rolls and inverted flying.

Please advise. I am debating whether to get it or just stick with Dx7.

I have used both the JR 9303 and the DX7. Both are excellent radios. For me it's just not worth spending the extra money. I just think of the money savings as parts that you can purchase.

That's just my perspective.

I have both and the only thing you will notice other than size, quality, and weight is that the 9303 is much easier to navigate through and much easier to program.

I would say pass unless you have the money to burn.

The 9303 is a wonderful radio. Much nicer to program, much nicer to look at, much nicer to hold. However, it does not sound like it will give you anymore than the DX7 can. I went to the DX7 from the 9303 to get the 2.4 and use it for my foamy planes to my 90 heli.

As said before buy it if you have the $300 to spend, not because it will "give" you more at this point. The 12X just came out and I am sure some will be selling their 9303's soon.

As long as you're flying electrics, there isnt one good reason why you would need the 2 extra channels the 9303 has.

Sure, the 9303 is quite a bit simpler to use, but programming a radio and setting up a heli isnt something you will do everyday.
The extra 20 minutes you spend programming, Im sure you can live that.

Save your money and buy an extra pack or something.

No, my 9303 will just become a beater radio.

Find one to pick up and hold. Look at the screen and the programming. Then make up YOUR mind if it is worth it, to YOU.

Personally, I love my X9303 and would not want any less radio.

The 12X would be nice, but at $1500 it is a bit much for most people.

9303 has throttle to cyclic mixing, more options with the gyro setup, much more options with setting up a governor, 30 model memory, assignable switches and a host of other features which you may not need. I'm really glad I sold my DX7 and bought an X9303 but I also fly Nitro's , building a gasser and I also fly airplanes where I wanted the dual throttle capability, 4 surface wings, dual elevator, etc...

The X9303 is a great improvement over the DX7 in most respects apart from:- balance is no better and the gimbals feel a little more clunky.

no.

The timer works ONLY on the momentary switch.

yes!

I'll have to look up the timer options, I haven't messed with them. Page H.46 doesn't offer too much about the functionality here

X9303 Upload and download to a PC, thats great. How many times I have started screwing with my settings and wish I could save the my current setup setttings offline to a file with date/time and a descriptive file name, not just to another model memory.
I understand if you change the DX7 from heli to plank mode, you lose everything ????
Now that puppy is tempting me to move up from my DX7..

that setting is for each individual model memory location. If you change from heli to plane or back it does put all settings back to the original factory settings FOR THAT MODEL. This does not affect the other model setups.

That warning had me scared I might accidentally erase everything, but your explanation makes sense so I won't worry about pushing the wrong button during a setup.

I actually use that process to clear everything if I'm setting up a new model to make sure nothing is hanging around from a previous configuration.

9303 is actually faster than DX7, 2048 resolution vs 1024 on the DX7.
Yes the AR9000 RX is 2048 capable, but the DX7 itself is not.

For the love of the hobby
