Radio requirements for a .30 Nitro
Does a .30 nitro require more than six channels to fly? I'm currently flying a Trex 450SA with a Futaba 6EX. Will I need to go to a 7 channel radio to fly a nitro? It seems like there should only be six channels.

I run my 30 on 6 channels. You only need 7 channels if you want to run a govener with mutliple rpm settings which can be changed from the transmitter.

Thanks for the info. What advantages does a governor pose over a no governer setup?

Funky Trex,
Wouldn't the same be true if you wanted to switch the Gyro via the flight mode switch?

No, the gyro remote lead works off channel 5.

A gov is not worth it on a 30 IMO. There just isn't enough power to take advantage of. Although you can 3d a 30 with good collective management and a .37, I would stick to sport flying with the 30s and get a 50 if you want to start 3d. I get pretty good sport flying performance from my 30 with just a throttle curve.
