jumping into Building Scale TTmd530
My stock Raptor ran nice and smooth (non3D ) with headspeed of about 1800 - 1850
no tail wag etc.
pitch was at -8 , 0 ,+10
throttle straight line linear for Norm
100%,50%,100% for idle up 1
I am building the TT MD530 kit and wondering how to set my curves

I read on another post -5,+5 ,10 should be the pitch setup for Scale ships

what should the throttle curve look like be when stick is in the middle neutral and I assume pitch would be +5 at middle stick

why is this setup(-5,+5,+10)preferred for scale in comparison to the traditional 10,0,10 for pod and boom heli's

Well the why is easy. It makes the collective stick less sensitive around center for smoother hovering. Kind of like using low rate but on your collective.

I don't bother I fly it the same as my other Raptors but with blue dampeners and black paddles and the inner holes on the washout arms.

Also I run it around 1800 rpm with a governor so I dont have to worry about throttle curves.

There's no right or wrong way to do it, try it and see what works for you.

I run mine with 10 deg on top and -5 on the bottom, and adjust the center to have it hovering slightly above center stick, which ends up very near 0 deg at center.

For throttle, I fly with a governor in idle up at around 1800 on 8.73 gearing (I'm flying at 5000ft) to keep the motor closer to the 'sweet spot'.

Pod/boom helis run -10/0/+10 for 3D, and inverted flight. If you have a 5 or 7 point curve in your radio, you can "flatten" the curves around hover to make the collective less sensitive.

thanks guys I have the 9303 radio 7 point on this Raptor so if I understand you ,if I flatten up the aileron and elevator around center that should get me where I want to be ,
is that the same result as adding expo to aileron and elevator ?

I am hoping to replicate the slow movements a real heli makes
my impression is that in the "real " heli a pilot makes slow deliberate moves ie: slow piroettes and you slow changes of attitude in the heli
they look deliberate and solid
I find the pod and boom heli is very pitchy and you see every thumb twitch in the tail twitching up and down , maybe it is just my dumb thumbs.
just trying to get it to look like the a scale flight
thanks for the input

I was referring to the pitch and throttle curves. With a straight line through center, minor stick movements can result in a "pogo" effect and make it difficult to get a really stable hover. The 9303's 7 point curve is really nice in this respect.

You may want to look at your swash values if you're looking to tame the elevator and aileron response. Dual rates are also an option for this. Personally, I don't like expo on helicopters, as I feel like I'm always 'chasing' it, and tend to over control. YMMV
