Honestly, this was the first time I ever voted in primaries. Apparently it turned out to be a record primary election day so far. Some surprises and disappointments, but at least I voted....so therefore I reserve the right to BITCH later on!!!

The day I turned 18, back in 1970, my Dad took me to the Town Hall. I registered to vote, and I registered for the Draft. I had a mid-draft lottery number and never got drafted. But I've voted in every single election that I've been eligible for. Even doing absentee ballots when business took me out of the country.

My wife and I voted this evening. The poll was not packed, but busy with a nice cross-section of the town's population represented.

Yeah, my Dad taught me the importance. Thousands, literally, have died so that we can have the right...yet so many forfeit that right.

Lou, what don't you like about the touchscreen machines? I voted on one today for the first time and didn't really see any issues with it.

Unless it's just a general mistrust thing? In which case, how does an absentee ballot eliminate that?

Edit - WHAT'S WITH THE SUCKABOOM????????????? COME ON, FESS UP DUMMIES!!!

Gee -- I wonder if Dubya and The Dick (and Karl "Turd-Blossom" Rove) had anything to do with this?

you dont have compulsary voting, so your voting system is a joke... and i like the term fund raising donations..... that means bribes..........the amount of money both sides spend just to put up a candidate for the presidency is offensive...

Do you guys get the day off on voting day? I know some countries do that. I think its a great idea.

Our system is designed to suppress the vote of the common man...

voting day is a saturday.... im allergic to workin saturdays, my doctor told me.....we have two main parties, liberal/national coalition(conservative) and labour(socialist-commies) and a number of lesser parties(greens ,democrats, one nation, family first and others).we have compulsory voting. its not too bad a system, almost anyone can have a crack at parliment...you dont have to be seriously rich.............

Imagine if we eliminated the party and primary system alltogether? Just throw all the candidates onto a single ballot, let the people cast their votes.

The guy with the most votes wins. The guy with the second most votes wins vice-presidency.
