It's not a magic bullet or anything and doesn't make that much difference but it does help a little. I also keep the tail hub as far to the outside as I can for the same reason. You know how the tail shaft has a groove where the set screw goes? I position the hub so the set screw is as far to the outside of that groove as possible. Between that and the pulley offset trick it really does center up the thing.

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."

Hey guys, lets not get pissy. I will try to fix anything, even if I can buy it or already have spares. The challenge of fixing something instead of just tossing it is part of the fun for me. I have even straightened bent main shafts because it's a challenge of my skills at measuring and setups, it has nothing to do with saving money or time. It's like a game, if you win you have something to show for it and some self satisfaction of a job well done.

EDIT:
I used my ball link pliers!
Now that is a great idea. And if my balllink pliers won't work I will probably spend a whole evening in my home machine shop making special pliers to remove the pulley ! It's the challenge for me.

I think about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, then wonder what I'm here after ?

Well..... I was asking about this because I was at work, and my boss told me to get off my butt and do some work. And, this is what I chose to pursue on company time. I would have never tried it at home, to much stuff going on.... Wife with stupid TV shows, daughter complaining on the phone, and son walking around telling his friends I am an idiot. Thanks for all the advice!

When he gets old enough, he will someday probably say, "Dad, how did you get so smart so quick ?"
