I am just assembling my 500 Vbar and I noticed the thrust bearings are the same ID on the head. I could see a mistake with one set but both? Both sets indicate .244 ( all 4 pieces) Anybody else see this?

I bought a Logo10 a while back that had one thrust bearing with the same smaller ID for both halves and the other thrust bearing had one larger and one smaller ID like it should. The incorrect one was replaced free of charge.

Interesting, even Mikado makes mistakes. I have had a few PM's telling me the same thing has happened to them. Ok, no big deal. Just wish somebody in the Seattle area carried parts. Now it is a 10 day wait......

As much as I hate to tell you, "if need be" the t-rex 600 thrusts are same and will work 100%. Back when I had a 600 rex I actually used the Logo 10 :ie same as 500 Logo, thrust bearings in the 600 head.

So if you are in a pinch and can get those, they will work just fine as well.

Thanks for the heads up!! Bob

Good to hear man, enjoy your weekend. Only use the thrusts of course exactly like the manual shows, do not use the rex spacer rings etc...

I just checked my logo 500 3D head and I have 2 large IDs on one side. I ordered the Trex 600 ones because they are half the price of mikado's. Thanks for this thread else I never would have thought to recheck.

This is all a little crazy...all 4 of mine are large diameter on 500#2. They were correctly paired on my first one.

I'm not sure I'd agree that it's great service to ship out replacements quickly since the mistake seems to be pretty common on this kit. Great service is shipping out the correct ones reliably and on the rare occasion there is a mistake, then shipping out the right ones.

First heli I've ever owned where the halves are mis-matched.

That's a great question...stopped everyone in their tracks. My "impression" is that the smaller id makes things rigid...and so it's on the outside so the grip can only rotate, not "move". Not sure why the other can be a little bigger. Perhaps it allows the orings to do their dampening better so there's a little more play needed at mainshaft side of grip. Tom

OK, I contacted Mikado-USA to get the correct, small ID thrust bearing race. Here's the email I sent and the reply. Not very helpful, do you think? Tom

---me to them---
I recently purchased my second Logo 500 (great machine!) and have an issue with the thrust bearings.

One of the races in each thrust bearing is supposed to have a smaller inner diameter which fits tightly on the spindle and one a slightly larger ID. Both races on both thrust bearings are the large ID races...so the head is not as tight on this kit as my first.

Would you send me replacement thrust bearing races with the smaller ID?

---Kyle Bergstrom, Aero-Model to me---
Please send these back to us and if we find something wrong we can send replacements. We have run into this problem before and 1 of the washers is very, very small difference.

----me to them----
Is there any way you can send 2 of the correct id races? I fly this model, though it's not as responsive as the other with the correct races. I’m happy to replace them and then send back the defective ones.

---Kyle to me---
We will need to see the thrust bearings before we can replace them.

If it was Aero-Model you called, you are not ususally going to get great service. IMHO they do not have a "service" oriented mindset.....Ron

I guess not...that was pretty lame, it seemed to me. Where should I call? They're the US distributor for these things. Isn't that SOP for kit problems? Tom

That does suck that they act like that! It's a very cheap part and not a motor or ESC or something of large value.

I'd send this to Mikado also.

OK, here's his next response:

To replace anything weather it is a screw or a whole helicopter I must see the part before replacing. If any retail store will they send you a replacement without seeing the old one, they will be out of business soon.
I do not know of many businesses that have this kind of return policy. If this can be proven to be successful please let me know and we will try to change our policy to something that works better.
I can honestly say I have sent out very few thrust bearings with this problem. We are the USA distributor so all defects we would be aware of. If these people who claim to have this similar problem would send them back we would have an idea of what kind of problem we are dealing with. Being that I have received 0 thrust assemblies back I can not say we have a problem.
If you would like you can order the parts and we can send a check for the thrust bearings once we receive them back.
