Hello, I am a futaba 7CHP user that is in my Raptor 30 v2 and I just purchased a T-Rex 450 SE GF (replaced my cp pro ). I ran across a brand new DX6i tx with a AR6000 receiver. I am on a budget and buying the DX6i seems like a great deal.

Can I get some input on this radio before I purchase it? In the future, When I decide to go to a 50 size raptor, I plan on going along with the DX7 just so I can run a gov.

Thanks for the input!

If money is an issue, why not just keep using the 7CHP? It has several model memories, and a decent receiver will be less than half the price of the DX6i.

Or sell your 7CHP which will cover most of the cost of the DX6i. Maybe even take the money for the DX6i, and sell the 7CHP, then buy the DX7 and not have to upgrade in the near future. All depends on how long you can go without flying.

Or keep using the 7CHP until you can get closer to the amount for an X9303 or 12x 2.4Ghz system.

Thank you Village, I was thinking if I went with the DX6i, I will be 2.4 instead of 72mhz quicker then waiting for DX7 or X9303. While I am using the DX6i, I will be saving for those high end radios.

I just need to make sure that there is a few heli pilots out there experiencing the DX6i with there raptors or t-rexs and have they had any issues with the DX6i.

Thank you for your input.

I think shredder is looking for the no glitch and no pin factor. Maybe the DX6 is not the answer but spectrum is better than 72 period!!!! If it's not spectrum, it's for sure 2.4 JR, Futaba, Spectrum or Airtronics.
What shredder is asking, "is the spectum DX6i a good radio system"?

The DX6i is a nice radio that is full range capable. It would work great in the T Rex and is easy to setup. Only downside would be if you decide to go on to nitro it won't be enough channels if you decide to use a governour. The 2.4 is definetly a plus. Just my 2 cents. Chuck

Since you want to move up in the future, you might want to look for a used DX7. They come around pretty often, especially from people upgrading to the x9303.

After that I haven't even really thought about the DX6i. I have a Futaba 9CHP that I use, and it has a Spektrum module in it. FOr my needs it is fine for now.

If the Airtronics system was a little more developed, I might consider thinking about it, but there is still too little information about receivers, mostly I have small stuff, so I want small receivers like the AR6100 and maybe AR6300.

Right now, if you want receiver choice from smallest to large, Spektrum is the only way to go in the 2.4Ghz area. XPS "offers" a larger receiver (rumored for 12 channels, but that rumor is very old now) which would then be for larger models. They also rumored about a smaller receiver that would compete somewhere in between the AR6100 and AR6300, but that rumor is also very old now.

Futaba is just too pricey for me, and the receivers are still too big. Again rumor has it that they have a little 4 gram receiver, but it is not even on the website yet.

I guess You would need 7 channels to operate the governor from the Tx ( I use all 7 on my Dx7).
But if youre gonna get another Tx later, There is a possibility to run (at least some) the governor without any channel.
I have the RevLock 20 and its possible to use it without any channel, it will the auto engage on spool up.

So then it´ll be possible to buy a cheap tx now and save money for the 'big one' later. If you go with Spektrum then you can use all your Rx with a JR 2.4 if that will be the choise.

I use the DX6i, it came with my blade 400 & I must say it looks cheap & very plastic, unlike futaba gear, but it certainly works well. I have nothing but praises for it.
