I was wondering what you guys think about the output voltage on the Align 2 in 1 Regulator / remote glow? I currently run the Duralite Regulator which steps my LiPo down to 5.1v from 7.4. Im running all Hitec servos (HS5625MG) and a Futaba S9254 on the tail. I noticed the Align regulator pumps out 5.8v. I know Futaba recommends NOT going above the 4.8v but I felt 5.1v was ok.. but Im not sure the digital servos were designed for 5.8v?

Thoughts?

The Futaba rudder servo typically doesn't like more than 5.1 or 5.3. Align sells a step down, as does duralite. The step down is used between the gyro, and rudder servo and drops the voltage down to an acceptable level for the servo.

I'm running the same setup as you currently, I use the switchglo for the glow plug and love it so far.

Also, as far as thinking the tail is ok on 5.1, probably will be fine but I bet you that if you were to check your voltage at the tail servo you probably don't really have a solid 5.1 anyhow.

Some of that juice is going to be lost to wiring/connections.

I think what he's saying is that when you are flying and using all the servos (especially Digis, that you will get a voltage drop and not see the 5.8 or 5.1 that the BEC/regulator says you will. Instead with a load on the servos you may only be seeing 5.4 or 5.5 volts with a 5.8 volt regulator, possibly even less. This could be checked in the air using a flight data recorder.

If you skip me I can't play!

Yah thats what I meant.

Personally, I wouldn't try feeding 5.8v to that servo. It would probably work fine for a while but I will take futabas reccomendation as I don't see any reason to give it more than what I do.

Duralite's 5.3 reg will give you a bit more juice to the hitecs if that is what you are after, there are other options though if you are set on getting 6.0 to the hitecs.

Thanx guys! I went on the Hitec website and it actually gives stats for a 6.0v setup..so I think they will be ok with the Align 2n1 setup..as far as the S9254..I think I will buy the in-line stepdown to take the 6.1 from the Align regulator and drop it back down to 5.1v

As always great info and thanx for the fast responses!

The align puts out 5.8 and yes its fine for all but the tail servos, the align step down is about 4 bucks.
