Throttle hold is throttle hold no matter where on the planet you are!
I find it easier to hit throttle hold when powering up the heli, hit half stick and release the dogs, let equalize rpm and go fly. I run a linear pitch curve in all modes but its a common practice to most using a linear setup. Landing is easy either power on landing(I like)or hit hold as I land and mini auto too. That throttle hold switch isn't just for emergencies!

Throttle Cut typically only works when the throttle stick is all the way down. For a nitro engine, this completely kills the engine after you land.

Throttle Hold works any time you throw the switch. On an electric it is OK to set it to zero, since off on the motor doesn't really "kill" the engine like it would on a nitro.

You asked about Throttle Cut and we all pointed out that you shouldn't be looking at Throttle Cut but instead should check out Throttle Hold. I don't have that radio, so I can't give you specifics, but now you know where to look in the manual.

Thanks ph7 and everybody else. As you might have guessed im on my on here no LH no surrounding help. Throttle hold was already setup on the trex450 when i bought it. I guess I was hoping of some way to stop power and still have control of heli. I could have sworn I read some post where 450 owners were doing auto's though. I guess not.

Dude,

You seem to be confused. So let me try to explain what has already been said.

Throttle cut is used on Nitro helis, not electric helis. You have an electric heli, thus it has no purpose.

Now, If you want to do autos, use throttle hold. Do not confuse throttle hold with throttle cut. Throttle hold will allow you to do autos. Just flip the throttle hold switch and you will have full control of the heli, except no power to the electric motor.

Got it?

Yea I guess so. I was just going by Futaba Radio handbook, which says auto's you do with throttle cut off. But I see you dont use cutoff with E heli's. So throttle hold it is! Again thanks sorry for confusion, but the forums is all I got.

If the motor still turns when you put throttle hold on, then lower the throttle hold value (probably to zero) until the motor does not run.

I always have the throttle hold on while I plug in the battery and keep it on until I am ready to lift off. If you should accidentally hit the throttle stick when you are near the heli, this will prevent it from spinning up. After landing, I flip the throttle hold on before I approach the heli.

It takes a pretty advanced pilot to auto a 450 size, so you may not need the switch for that purpose for a while. Using it for safety, as I described above, you should do from the beginning.

Throttle hold in nitro helis is basicly the same as an electric but it idles down the engine to disengage the clutch so no power to the mains but have cyclic/collective and rudder. Electric heli hold disengages the esc. not to be confused with the bec!
