i have the spectrum regulator just in case i wanna CRACK it up! ill just have to find another 8717 for throttle or get a regulator for throttle. i cant see needing faster then these servos on regulated setup. should be sweet.

Looks real good. May I suggest one thing though.. YOur wires that go through the frames should really be covered. Those edges will wear through the servo wires very quickly. Go by the local auto parts and get assorted box of grommets to cover the frame holes. I would personally do that before ever flying it. And for the front of the frames where the wires are, take some fuel line and split it down the middle and CA it to the fram wherever wires come in contact.

Looks Nice, you will enjoy flying it..

dx7 770 setup
use gear channel on rx
set gear to gear allows you to use gear switch for a normal mode and heading hold conditions

travel adjutments set to
rudder 100% to 100% this sets piro rate
gear -15% to +15% this is acually 65% gain at 0 here starts at 50% plus what number you use

DR 70% 25% expo adjust expo like you want the tail to feel like

Not to steal the thread or anything, but could someone give me some info on the spektrum regulator/stepdown? I'm thinking about getting some 8717's and if I'm doing that I may as well just skip out on the reg and just run strait 7.4v. I'm assuming that I'll only need a stepdown for the throttle and gyro. It that all I'll need?

Thx.

if your going to run 3 8717's on cyclics and 1 8717 on throttle all you need is to get the new spectrum dual voltage reg and you will have a 8volt system and only need the spectrum reg for the gyro. this works awesome on any heli out there.

only thing is you will need to get a decent battery for it and will have limited flights on it. you will need to charge it more often
spectrum dual voltage reg next to swithglow
im using a evo lite 2100 2s 7.4v pack

Why would i need a voltage reg if I'm planning on running just strait 7.4 volts? Isn't it sufficient to just put a step-down between the throttle and the gyro?

A step down only removes about .7 volts or so. Taking down a 2 Cell LiPo input (7.4-8.4volts) to 5 volts or so will require a regulator of some sort as 2 to 3 volts is too much for a simple single-diode stepdown to remove. That new Spektrum unit they are talking about seems to be a good choice for this need

I noticed that it only has 2 inputs/outputs. Will that work if I'm running a 601 (requires 2 inputs) and a throttle servo that need to be regulated?

I think in your instance, you would utilize both inputs for the gyro itself. Using a throttle servo that can handle that voltage would save you a lot of complexity.

I'm considering this set up myself, and am wondering about a switch, or is it "on" when you plug in the pack?

on a 611 the gain only has one wire on it so you only need to use the 3 wire rx lead to the spetrum reg and can use the other for a throttle servo.

i dont use a switch at all i just use a ultra deans connecter to battery

So if I'm understanding you correctly the gain lead from the 601 doesn't need to be regulated?

Correct, its just a signal wire and only uses the signal pin.
