Best upgrade to make King V2 3D ready!
I got tired of the total lack of tail authority and other random issues that kept me from having any real fun with this heli so I sold the airframe for $10 and bought a new Mini Titan kit for $130 from A-Main hobbies. I installed my HBK2 electronics in the Titan and problem solved! Best possible upgrade, night and day difference for 3D Flying. The HBK2 hovers well but it's limitation show up quickly thereafter.

We hear that a lot just from Trex owners Glad you got what you wanted and hope you have fun. But none of us have trouble with the King Your 3D must be pretty extreme. And as you noticed the King never once claimed to be a 3D heli at least not for $149

Umm no, this is definitely the right place to discus HBK2 upgrades, and this was a major upgrade. When I upgraded from my brushless main & tail equipped CP2 to the King2 it was a big step up in collective precision, I would call this an even bigger jump, especially in the tail department.Brandon Crosier

Its not the king its your skill level thats lacking or the mechanical ability to improve it. If your not careful Your gonna give mini pilots a bad name.

Well put tryan. Obviously 929pilot is just here to start a lttle heat. A true 3D pilot could have easily made the tail on the HBK2 rock solid

Tail problems are easy to fix on a HBK2, mine now flys as well as a stock Trex, I have one of those too. If I really wanted to nit pick I could say neither have the tail authority and hold power of my Raptor 30 in stock form, it's all relative.

I had a few issues with the barebones HBK out of the box, generally true of any low end machine. Careful attention to setup and a few low $ upgrades solved those, it's now my favorite small heli, I rarely fly the Trex anymore. But then again, I didn't expect perfection from a $55 airframe, for less $ than a box stock Blade CP Pro I have a superior machine

I've owned and flown a lot of different 300 size heli's, the HBK2 is best one I've seen so far. They don't suit everyone, but I like it

That video was the reason I bought the King2 in the first place! And I can do all those moves plus piro flips, and more. I actually did piro flips with the King, successfully. I don't have a video but I have many witnesses here on RR. The problem is the tail is just horrid and I had a couple crashes that were just from pushing it to hard, crashes that wouldn't have happened with a more capable machine. My point is why limit myself and why spend money repairing or upgrading it. If you're happy with it fine, good for you, but don't infer from that video that a HBK2 is a solid 3D machine. It is capable of aerobatics with an expert pilot flying it but larger helis with more solid tail rotors do all these maneuvers far more easily and you will progress faster with them. Imagine what the guy in the vid could do with more heli. I am sorry to have offended some of you HBK2 faithful, it is a nice little heli, I was just sharing the fix that cured all my problems. I'm sure some people have similar issues and some are perfectly happy.

My setup: Esky servos, logitec 2100 with 3154 tail servo, HDX450 motor (weighs 55 grams), and a Phoenix 25 speed control. The servos fit the titan perfectly. My motor was on the large side for the king and works well in the titan. I did switch from 12-1350mah batteries to 2100+mah.

Then the moral of the topic is don't expect to buy a hard 3D machine for a $150. I am sure the mini in a 450 size heli is more suitable for your flying style. But those of us on a heli budget need these little guys. And Im sure you can tell that none of us are gonna drop the king I just purchased a TREX for a backup but cant afford the electronics. My skill level, entry level to sport flying on a budget the king is the best on the market.

you cant race a Honda civic at the Daytona 500 and expect to win.

Good luck with the mini and quit teasing the poor kids down the block its not nice.

929pilot, Its Cool, We're all Heli-brothers. We do get defensive about the King only because most of us started with the rather difficult Blade CP and for a lot of us the KING 2 kinda restored some faith in RC helis instead of giving up. The King is like an underdog in alot of ways and for 150 bucks its a good bang for the buck.
That being said--- probaby few of us here are flying at the level you are, I know I'm not and I will agree that as the flying skills improve its natural to crave a better machine. I'm probably not one to speak cause I'm flying the Blade CP again (I'm going ass-backwards:eek

So that is what 3D stands for

I too would be super dooper happy with a hover of any kind. You guys that keep complaining about the limitations of the full out 3D capability of a $65 airframe should just get over it and fly your T-Rex or Raptor. You want to really test yourself, try a piro in your living room with your Raptor .30
