I have a question for you guys. Ive been doing RealFlight 4 for about 2 months, and plan on doing so for about 2-4 more. Then im thinking ill either get a mini titan or a gazaur mars as my first heli.

All comments are welcome (including ones considering other helis)

Cheers!!!

Poseidon is better idea
Take a closer look of Gazaur Poseidon. It has similar design as Mars and have stable and strong frame. Gazaur is more stable machine with good quality parts. It flys very smooth. If you have not any machine and would ike to have a good start heli and able to 3D in future. Gazaur is a good choice. It is actually a 480 machine not 400 or 450. It is a little heavier but good rotor head design and well balanced tail blades. It flys like 500 machine. In next few months there will be more stores stocks the parts for Gazaur. It is a new machine with good future. Try it, you will not reget.

Mini Titan! It's from a VERY reputable company who has tremendous parts support and almost everyone has a Thunder Tiger product and is familiar with them. I would never buy a Gazaur because it comes from Hobby Lobby, not well know for quality helis (see Falcon 3d, HoneyBee etc...) or good heli support. If you listen to the experienced pilots on here they will say Mini Titan or Trex 450 SE. Good luck!

Not try to label any heli is bad or good; Who is good vendor or not. Only want to say that "Hobby Lobby" is a distributor, they did not manufacture the heli. A company does not usually carry "Quality" product. It does not mean the product is bad. Unless you have try one, you should not label the Gazaur's product as low quality product.

Rexchang I agree with you and I did not say a bad word about the Gazaur. I'm sure it's a fine little heli. I like a more traditional helicopter look so it's not for me. And I don't think you can show that the distributor has any kind of a track record for carrying "quality" helis so I would personally just go with a more proven bird if it were my first. Just my opinion.

I have a MINI TITAN and LOVE it....its a great beginner heli because it can be tuned wild or mild.....I have no experience with the GAZZAUR,it looks nice, well made, and the vids show it performs well.....but parts are more expensive and hard to get.......I doesn't matter how good a heli is ,if you cant fly it because you cant get parts or you are waiting...its not much fun

I don't own a mini-titan.
But I think many people have a better idea when comparing T-rex with mini-titan. So I'll let you guys know my experience with T-rex and Gazaur.

I own a T-rex SE (not V2) and Gazaur Poseidon.
Gazaur definetly wins hands down in terms of performance.
No one can argue with me on that one since T-rex SE V1 don't even have thrust bearing in the head.

Now, I've seen T-rex SE V2 in stores and it does look a lot better than V1 in terms of quality (it also have thrust bearing now). Gazaur's heli still wins in terms of design, but perhaps not quality and it lack parts support (you could order parts online from directly from Gazaur Taiwan, shipping is not bad at all).

so now all you need to do is compare mini-titan against T-rex. If you think T-rex is better, than you should get a Gazaur. haha.

But seriously, there is nothing wrong with Gazaur helis. You just have to be able to wait 2 weeks for parts (from Taiwan). Plus parts are a little more expensive than others.
Beginner, you should get mini-titan.
Advanced flyer, you should get Gazaur or T-rex.
that's what I think.

I've had the mini titan and the mars. Here's my 2 cents:

Mini Titan (non-SE type):
+very easy to build and work on (about 1/3-1/2 the number of parts in a mini titan compared to the mars)
+practically bulletproof frames.
-mixing arms are too flexy, but can be fixed w/ the $30 trex arms
-little ball links were tight out of the box and difficult to resize using the squeeze technique. I replace mine w/ trex balls and ball link
-some have had tracking issues. Metal mixing arms and the blade grip mod fix this. (do a search)
+lots of space for electronics mounting.

Mars:
-Assembly is very involved. Lots of parts and the quality is so-so. Some parts need to be ground/filed etc to make them fit properly.
-I didn't like the look of the canopy. Have to paint it if you want a black 'windshield'. It's also fussy to put on and take off being so much bigger than mini titan canopy.
+big canopy makes it much easier to see in flight.
+nice servo layout
-blade grips don't turn freely w/o some work (some will say this is normal)
-frames are a bit flexible. Not sure how well they will hold up in a crash.
-some of the metal parts are super expensive, like the rotor hub being about $90!! (ouch!!) Plastic parts prices seem reasonable.

Both are very capable w/ a comparable power system. However, I liked the ease of maintainance and look of the mini titan. I have since sold my Mars.

I also have a trex 450SE, and to be honest, the mini titan flies as well as the 450SE, which cost about twice as much. I keep it for the 'bling' though. I like those aluminum and CF parts.

FYI, order from Hobby Lobby for Gazaur's spare parts is little pricy. You can order from a retail store Al's Hobby in Chicago. They have Gazaur's spare parts for better price. The main rotor hub sub set with a floating center ball is $57.99

If you did not live in Illions, buying from Al's hobby you do not have to pay tax and the shipping is usually less then $15 for one order. Last time I ordered a bunch of parts, about a kit box size of order, I paid $14 for shipping.

BTW, Hobby lobby sell plastic rotor head set for $159.
From Al's Hobby a set regular rotor head is $99.99, a whole set of metal rotor head is only $172.99

Call Cindy at 630.832.4908 She will be in store from 10-8 weekdays, 9-5 sat and 12-5 sun. Very friendly store and good price too..
