Vibe too
The vibe 90 does (really not often) break it's main shaft in flight. I have seen that on a 3d masters video. They now make the shaft without any recess for the collar set screws. this is a solid main shaft.

this heli is as powerful, so to me it is not such a big surprise.
12mm main like synergy ou thundertiger seem to be in order for more than 2500w of power with a top pilot.

that said, we really pound the mechanics to death. Dont blame Mikado, simply upgrade you shaft and go on.

Hello

Here is the TREX 600 flybarless vid.

http://www.theastonisher.com/ChrisHarmon/TREX600-1.wmv

He's really hammering it on this vid and yes those are TT blades were using...the same one I snapped over my knee with light pressure due to fatigue...so I stand corrected from what I said in the vid Also I talk a lot so you may want to mute the volume

Its just an optical effect in the video that makes the blades look like bananas...

The camera had a low frame rate so it made the blades look funny...not too bad for a $100 HD Camera.

Did not know for the blade effect at low frame... Mel
Just feel newbie today
IMHO Eco8gator, with such habilities, Chris deserves a better camera Let's go high definition high frame

Hello

Actually one of our friends has an HD cam.

Personally Id love to buy one but if I have to deal with shafts breaking, slipping oneways, and motors break under load its hard to justify buying a 1k camera.

Keep in mind this one incident is going to cost me a very good chunk of money and Chris and I are not sponsored in any way in reguard to this machine so its all on us.

That kind of mishap really is new for us and we will improve the part
even if that possibly wont ever happen again to make the logo as reliable as they are known for.

Hey Daniel

I don't understand what you mean?

Are you suggesting that we stop flying hard so were not so hard the airframe?

Im glad to see Mikado has sent their best to give us valuable advice.

Remember we did not break it in a crash, the shaft broke in flight. We had no clue that the straight shaft would break in flight.

Mostly alot of Pilots avoid flying too hard and risky when not sponsored just to keep cost down
LOL

Carlo

I watched the video and I see nothing in the video that shows Chris pushing the heli any harder than what I see from most hard 3D pilots.
Please explain what he is doing that puts more stress on the heli than what any of the other hardcore 3D gangstas throw at them now.

Thanks.

I told you it was the future........

Eco8gator, can you tell us the exact moment the shaft broke? Like was he doing tic-tocs, maybe a really fast change in direction? Do you think it was something in particular or did it just finally let go?

Daniel can you comment on your findings? Has this ever happened to you?

Definately not normal.

Ron

IMHO I think that is what he means...I just hope it's a joke because I expected a little better behavior fome Mikado's top pilot.

We fly hard to test a product in development. We replace parts that look worn and feel rough. But how am I supposed to know to replace a straight shaft? Is there any test data avilable to show the max load on the shaft?

Hi DJ,

I'm not sure about you but my other helicopters don't normally explode mid air due to a design and or quality issue. The flying is something I can control, Mikado quality on the other hand is not.

I personally feel the Mikado line to have very high quality normally but can fall short in a few ways like anything.
Not because they can't hold up in flight? I hope that is not what he is saying....Ron
I think there is a translation issue because it reads the same to me.

Either way, I had no intentions of stepping on Daniels toes as I have much respect for him and his flying. We just wanted to put the issue out there and see how others are fairing with the machine. If the shaft is a known issue we would like to see it resolved or we could possibly make up a small run of custom shafts. If it was simply a quality control issue then we can continue on and hope for the best. These types of crashes are just not something we can afford or like to repeat.

i think its just a freak accident......things fail all the time. I think Daniel J is not representing mikado well as a sponsored pilot. It is through the NON-SPONSORED PILOTS patronizing mikado that YOU (Daniel J.) can get the chance to get sponsored. There must be better things he could have said regarding this situation IMO. It sounds extremely arrogant to me, and of course this is my opinion. When someone buys a logo 600 3D its not to just hover around and do stall turns. Heck look at the transmission! Now if you guys were running the 690 blades as I have been reading, then I feel you might have been pushing it. What blades were you running?
